Now they're going to electronically track everyone who buys Sudafed, just incase they buy too much of it.   ???
I bought some a few months ago for a strange allergy problem.  I'm still awaiting my sentencing in this case.   ::)

Here are some parts of the story:

Popular remedy caught in drug law

The key to stopping, or at least slowing, the production of methamphetamine, however, is a step that could inconvenience hundreds of thousands of Granite State consumers ? that is, by placing constraints on the availability of pseudoephedrine, the most important ingredient in the manufacture of the mix.

Pseudoephedrines are major components of over-the-counter drugs such as Sudafed and Actifed that provide relief from the common cold and other uncomfortable ailments.

The comprehensive bill, sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, and Sen. Jim Talent, R-Missouri, would, among other things, mandate that pseudoephedrines be dispensed only by a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy technician; that anyone purchasing it be required to show photo ID and sign a log; and that individual purchases be limited to 9 grams within any 30-day period.

And New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte told the N.H. Legislative Caucus on Methamphetamine at its first meeting in June that within the past 18 months authorities have uncovered seven illicit methamphetamine labs in New Hampshire.

Ayotte, fresh from an Attorneys General summit on methamphetamine, recommended that the caucus consider introducing legislation:

-Establishing single-transaction quantity limits on sales of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine tablets.

-Considering alternative placements for pseudoephedrine products, such as moving them behind the drug counter.

-Requiring reports from pharmacies of any suspicious purchases.

-Establishing logs for customers to sign if they purchase more than certain quantities of pseudoephedrine drugs.

Requiring identification from persons who purchase large quantities of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine drugs.
The caucus, co-chaired by Reps. Joy K. Tilton, D-Northfield, and Deborah J. Hogancamp, R-Chesterfield, is gearing up to introduce legislation in September.

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores said it ?continues to advocate for a consistent national standard that would preempt state and county laws and allow for the creation of a national electronic tracking system.?

Without such a system, the association said, ?criminals will still be able to purchase restricted products ? without being detected ? by going to multiple pharmacies or retailers.?

Back when I was a SCUBA diving instructor we called sudafed "divers candy" The stuff really helps the ears after 3 classes and 6 dives on a Sunday freezing your tail off in New England waters. I used to buy a bottle of 100 pills at least once a month. I guess if I was still teaching I would be a "suspicious" person.

The only thing this law is going to do is escalate violent crime.

Michael Fisher

LOL

Well at least this provides a good opportunity for civil disobedience.

-After this law is implemented, publicly announce plans to go around to certain stores on a specific day and buy all the Sudafed, then go to the drug enforcement office in Concord with your huge stash and give them away for free.

You will be arrested for violating controlled substance laws, and the state will be exposed for being the tyrant that it is.

Of course now that they say this:

I go to 30 stores and buy some.
My friend does the same.

There is no way they will every have all this computerized.

Sounds like NHFREE.com has a cold.

Maybe the govt should just ban sudafed.
or better yet just ban colds.

Kat Kanning

Imagine 100 of us going to all sorts of stores and buying it.  It would drive them nuts trying to track it.

Dreepa

In fact we could buy the whole store.
Then resell it.

When Sudafed is outlawed, only outlaws will have Sudafed.  And I'll be one of them.

So when should we schedule our Sudafed event?

If they ask me for ID, I'll just say my name is "John Schmidt" - as in Jacob Jingleheimer - suggest you all do the same  ;D

In Florida they are sending out the Brute Squads to storm the street and make people "feel the fear", even though there is no credible terror threat.  Get used to it people, Police State Amerikka is upon us.
