Does anyone think buying a camper is a good idea?

Let's just say there is an economic collapse and somehow people that owe a mortgage have their houses taken away.  Now I know there will probably be bigger problems going on then worrying about people's mortgages but I'm just asking in case.

So if people bought a cheap camper, wouldn't that assure them of a place to live and keep storable foods and stuff?

I'm pretty sure a campground wouldn't be a good place to stay parked but what if the camper or truck being used to tow it had enough gas in it to get to a remote location in the woods somewhere, provided there is a slim trail?

Most likely if there were a true economic collapse... the people would just stay in the house.
Since this is already happening in some areas... probably would occur everywhere.

That's my way of thinking. If times were so hard that I fell behind in mortgage payments, but continued to pay something, then that's worth more to them than a foreclosed house in a crashed market.

I can think of a lot of ideas for temporary shelters that I would use before I would use a camper, I guess it depends on how fancy you want to live... I would suggest investing the money for hard times in the future instead of buying a camper.

I don't know.  I read an article, (I can't remember where), that when the econonmy collapses and people owe money on things such as credit cards, mortgages, ect. they were going to be forced to go into some type of work camp.   I don't believe everything that I read but I did start to wonder if this could be a possibility. 

Then I also thought, there will probably be so much going on if the economy collapses that houses are the last thing people are going to be concerned with.  So I guess I was just trying to cover all probabilities.

I think buying a camper is a great idea. Not really for economic collapse, really. More for having fun.

One of this type of camper is good... and relatively cheap... and as an RV Specialist I have never known anyone who did not love theirs.

So which one of that type is good? 

It's hard to say, and the only subject I could write a book on... a top selling can't put me down thriller, no doubt.

Basic rules for pop-up trailers:

1. Love how it pops up, slides out or raises to be ready for use.  There are a lot of different quirks between brands and models.
2. Historically dealer mark up has been 100 to 200%.  Walk away if the price isn't coming down.
