Baltimore
Officers Infiltrate Anti-Death Penalty Group

An WBAL 11News I-Team investigation has revealed what prompted Maryland State police to infiltrate and spy on anti-death penalty groups.

According to Superintendent Col. Terrence Sheridan, the undercover officers began attending public meetings held by death penalty opponents in March, apparently in an effort to develop a plan of action for any rallies that turned violent.

Sheridan called the surveillance "Simply a case of bad judgement." Sheridan also admitted that the group had not broken any laws, and that the undercover investigation determined that the activists were not planning any violent protests.

State lawmakers are planning a series of hearings in the fall on the secret surveillance. However, as reported by David Collins, state police indicated they believe laws limiting their power are not necessary.

So... The government people want to monitor the anti-violence group in hopes they... don't... get violence.

And that fact that step 1 of this infiltration was "remove gun from hip" doesn't tell the people what the government people are truly all about?

If you've done nothing wrong... then perhaps you won't mind answering a few questions.

Have you stopped beating your wife?

Do you enjoy yourself when you molest children?

Do any of your friends complain about the government?

Do any of your friends plan activities to change the Government?

You call them your friends and they don't like the Government... is that why you call them your friends?

Would you object to 'inquisitive detention'... if you've nothing to hide... you would help us catch these criminals wouldn't you?

I love that arguement. :P "If you're not hiding anything, then you have nothing to fear from government spying..."

I counter that with "As long as it's a crime to put certain plants in my pocket or keep all of the money I earn from my honest job, I certainly DO have things to hide!"

That arguement is based on the notion "You're doing something illegal" which is based on the notion "You're doing something wrong". Implying that you do in face violate the law tends to get a dumbstruck responce as they struggle to wrap their brains around that. If it was wrong, you'd not admit to it, and if it wasn't wrong, it wouldn't be illegal but it IS illegal so it must be wrong... But he does it anyway and this isn't someone I think is a criminal, but he IS a criminal..."

Sometimes, when you listen closely, you can hear a quiet little "woosh" as their brains implode and the air rushes in to fill the void.

Les,

I echo your sentiments about death-loving capitalist bureaucracy exactly. Now it is 2009, one year after your post and nothin has changed in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire uses hanging if for some reason lethal injection cannot be given. In other words the hangmen justify themselves with a bureaucratic mistake so they can slowly strangle people when (A) they make a mistake with their injections, and (B) they make a mistake with their long drop hangings.

Hanging is a disgusting way to kill someone. That is how Hitler killed his opponents. He slowly hanged them with piano wire and watched it as a movie. That is disgusting. Hanging anyone is cruel, unusual, and disgusting punishment. Can't you live up to China's standards and shoot criminals in the head?

In England, the nobles got their heads chopped off as a treat. France invented the guillotine as a way to show equality and compassion. It is 2009 and America, Iran, and New Hampshire can't figure out that hanging is cruel, unusual, and disgusting.

Nope. More likely the Free State Project. Or maybe the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance. But that's just conspiracy theory.
