Pastor Tom said we could use the town green, just no alcohol out there.  He sounded enthusiastic about the event.

Russell Kanning

Don't forget that there is another important event at the Peaceful Assembly Church after the 3rd Annual Grafton Apple Festival and before the Grafton Gulch party, all on the 26th. (Am I missing that LSF thread somewhere?)
Because of the Liberty Scholarship Fundraising Dinner on the 26th, there will be no tours of this historic (1798) church building on Saturday the 25th or during the day on the 26th.
The clock is ticking and there is a ton of stuff to do here. I'm making the church available for TWO BIG EVEVTS ON THE SAME DAY and I need HELP.
I here that someone is providing the dinner. Are they planing to bring everything they need or assuming that I have some items here that they might need? If they are bringing everything, it is one fewer thing for me to worry about. It would be VERY, VERY helpful to have an estimate of how many people are comming.
I am going to be needing to move some furniture around and adding some folding tables and chairs. Several chairs have arrived. I'm not sure about the rest of the stuff.

Some of us in Grafton have plans for another big event here in Grafton on Saturday night, so I'm hoping that we can have the Peaceful Assembly Church grounds & hall all set up by 3 or 4 in the afternoon on Saturday the 25th and then we can all relax.

As I stated above: TWO BIG EVENTS ON THE SAME DAY and I  could sure use YOUR HELP.

Russell Kanning

who knows how many people will show up
let me pm jacobus about how many they are going to feed

Hi John,

Thank you for making the church available for the benefit dinner.

My wife and I are going to cater this dinner.  We have no idea how many people will attend but will try to accomodate up to 50 guests.  I believe Kat announced the dinner on Facebook to start at 5:00, and there will be a $10 (suggested?) donation to attend.

This will primarily be a spaghetti supper.  Here is the menu we would like to provide:

* salad
* bread & butter
* spaghetti & meatballs
* eggplant parmesan
* cookies
* iced tea

Does your kitchen have a stove and stovetop?  We'll need the stovetop to cook the spaghetti and the stove to heat up the eggplant parm.  Do you have refrigerator space to put iced tea (we can bring ice if not)?

Other than that, I think we should be able to supply everything necessary for cooking the meal, including pots, cooking utensils, and a crockpot (for the meatballs).  We'll also bring metal foil trays for putting out the food (buffet-style).

Kat volunteered to provide plates, utensils, and tablecloths.

We can arrive in Grafton on Sunday the 26th between 1:00 and 2:00 PM.  Of course we'll be around to clean up the kitchen afterwards and help with any other cleanup tasks in the church.

Thanks,
Jacob

P.S. To anyone: let me know if it looks like I've overlooked something.  This will be our first time doing this.

Also, we're only supplying cookies for dessert.  If someone else wants to contribute a food item, maybe a pie would be nice :-)

John

Thanks Jacobus.
I have a normal stove and just a tiny refrigerator.
See you on Sunday.

I plan to bring as many tables and chairs as possible, and will set them up.  Will help with whatever else needs doing.  Is there some prep work for the dinner you think would be necessary before the day?  I could come Friday.

John

Thanks Kat. Sure, Friday would be great. I'll be here in the afternoon and evening Friday.
I want to hang some pictures Friday and could definitely use help with that.

It seems that every time we are going to have a new event I feel like I want to step it up just a little notch. You know, make the place just a little better than it has been yet. I think I have a long way to go, so this might happen for a while.
And each event seems like it deserves having the place tweaked a bit more.

I probably worry a bit more than I need to, but it certainly helps motivate me toward continuous improvement. Today I moved stuff around a bit more to open up the hall to be a bit more spacious. I think it works.

I think I probably need to relax a bit:o When I heard the number "maybe 50 or so" the other day, I started to worry that maybe I'm not ready to handle that many yet. But the truth is; We will handle it just fine.
I'll get by with a little help from my friends. Hey, that reminds me of a song. ...  ;D

Thanks for the offer, Kat, but Beth is planning to do prep cooking on Saturday in Mason (make the eggplant parm and meatballs) and thinks we should be fine.

I have plates, utensils, cups, etc. for the dinner and for the dessert tasting.  Will drop the stuff off at the church today.

John

I'll keep extra keys with me in case you guys need any. I'll be mostly here (or at 1000) 'till then but also have to run to town the big city sometime very soon.

cathleeninnh

I think we can come on Sunday. So tell me again, exactly where is this shindig going to be and when and what should I bring besides a donation for LSF?

K. Darien Freeheart

It's at 860 Main St (which is NH-4) at the Church.

There's the dessert contest, if you'd like to enter, bring a dessert. If you want to be a taster, bring $2. :P
