S. 3297 contains a measure called "The Mother's Act" which would require pregnant women and new mothers to receive mandatory psychiatric screening and treatment for mental disorders.  Awesome.  Now the government doesn't want us to breed without permission, and without taking whatever "calming" drugs they foist upon us.

OK, I held my nose and jumped into the bill to read it for myself. I don't see where women are being required to do anything. The "researchers" are not even required to do any studies, just "encouraged" to do so. They - the researchers - must provide reports on their findings.

Please, someone show me differently? Yes, I know how "researchers" can term their studies to make patients think it is required but...

why another bill? .... make it stop :fryingpan:

Hmmm, calming drugs, for free?   I feel a sudden urge to have many more children! ;D   Only kidding, I think, of course, no I'm not, yes I am.

The only people any of these bills help are those congressmen who write the bills, those congressmen who support the bills and vote for them and those congressmen who are against the bills and vote against them.

They make $169,300 a year to do this! You want them to go there and twiddle their thumbs?

Oh... wait... never mind!

gridlock and bounced checks for congressmen!

There was this thing called the "New Freedom Initiative" or somesuch a few years ago, by which the federal government planned on forcing everyone (I think they were starting in the public school system) to undergo psych examinations. It made the rounds on all the blogs and caused quite a stir, then it sort of dropped off the radar.

Much like Total Information Awareness (TIA) or PATRIOT Act II, though, it probably didn't actually die, but instead shattered into a thousand pieces which they'll implement bill by bill instead of all at once. This is probably one of them.

Women will be trying to hide that they're pregnant...it'll be the new concealed carry.
