Do you want to homeschool...

Do you want to home school your child, but are unable to do so because you have to work during the day?

I am considering offering daytime home school assistance to Porcupine families. I'm trying to determine if this is a service in which folks would be interested.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Your child spends the "school day" (to be determined based on your scheduling needs) with me, and I provide "unschooling guidance" in their educational pursuits.  I assist them in learning, and assist you in putting together the required portfolio of the student's work for you to get evaluated by a certified teacher (as per NH Home Schooling Law).

I'm thinking I can provide this service for maybe 2-4 students at a time, depending on various considerations (age of the students, scheduling issues, etc.).  I figure the parents, the student, and myself can sit down and negotiate the terms of the deal.

What I can offer:

I have a lot of experience working with children, especially teaching/tutoring gifted children.  I have worked for the past three years at a private program for "at risk" NH boys between ages 10 and 16 as Medical Officer, Climbing Instructor, Rowing Instructor, and Athletics Counselor.  At the same program, I have also taught many boys such skills as: Shelter Building, Chess, Snorkeling, Kayaking, Land Navigation/Map and Compass Skills, First Aid, etc.

I have also tutored individual students in Math, Reading, Writing, History, and Science.  I have tutored at the college level in Biology, Freshman Composition, Ancient and Medieval History, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Economics, and Environmental Science.  I majored in History, Philosophy, and Classical Studies in college, and spent two years informally studying Austrian Economics at the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

I am a 10 year veteran of the US Army, and I've been a firearms instructor for about 18 years.  I have a current Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED Certification.  I'm also a trained Mediator, and a voracious reader.

So, if you think there is even the remote possibility that you may be interested in such a service, please email me at: ancapagency@yahoo.com or call me at: Home 463.0069  or Cell 340.6654 and we can discuss the possibilities.

Sounds nice.  Not something I personally need, but I bet you can help some people.

I think this is an awesome idea. . . and if I had kids right now I'd be very interested.  Moreso, my girlfriend who has yet to be turned onto homeschooling (although she dislikes government schools as well) would be interested as well. . .

her major turnoffs to homeschooling is "having your kids sit with some weird person all day learning who knows what"

I smiled.

Well, I would appreciate any leads if y'all know of anyone who might be interested.

Thank you.

As I don't have children (yet) I really love this idea and I've asked Aubern to send it to her sister (who we are working on to get here, and are close to being successful).  She has home schooled on and off for a few years when she was able.  If and when we have children, they won't be going to a government school, that is for sure.  Your idea sounds wonderful.  Hopefully I hear more about this in the future.  It really sounds appealing to me.

This would be a great alternative for parents who are unable to participate in their child's home schooling.. however I personally would prefer to do it on my own rather than have someone else take over for me. I think its one of the most important/meaningful things a parent could do for their child. I am pleased to see so many Free Stater's pulling their children out of the "system" that is geered toward mind control "conditioning" and "the deliberate dumbing down of America."

(ancapagency) Much luck to you in your new education endeavor. Your qualifications look very respectable. Thank you for offering such a service.
We need to see much more of this. It is critical now more than ever that we educate children with the truth and the family values that are "non conforming."

I agree, but this still is far more hands on than the gubbmint skoolz.  Like mindedness and a direction that is not led or controlled by dumbed down teachers (at the end of a gun) is...  you see where I'm going with this.
I think this is closer to the "social responsibility" that we all seek.

I want to home school my kids, but I need kids first...  there's this whole not believing in gubermint licensed marriage that I'd have to deal with first though.

We will support and defend you when the hangmen come.  Good thing we have time to prepare. ;)

I'm a little confused. You don't need a license or marriage to procreate as far as I know.

No, but have to find a female who wants to procreate without marriage.
