One week ago, someone claiming to be from CITY OF KEENE "Code Enforcement" threatened me over a couch in my tenants' yard. They use the couch for birdwatching and it has been there for longer than I can remember. Now the Blue Light Gang has a problem with it? Whose property is this, anyway?

Today, 08/26/08 he returned and I had my camera ready.

What's that on his chest? A DEA logo with a skull in it? I'll let you draw your own conclusions about a man that would wear something like that. Turns out Carl Patten Jr. was a Keene Police Detective, now retired. That means he's collecting a sweet government pension while still working as the "Housing Inspector" for City of Keene Code Enforcement. I don't know if he's worked for the DEA or just worships them.

Not that I have agreed to their services, but let's take a look at his ticket just for fun, shall we? He's got the address, but who is he ticketing? Bureaucrats can be so lazy they don't even fill out their own forms correctly. Oh yeah, he didn't bother to circle the hundred dollar fine or anything else.

Cameras plus questions make Blue Light Gang members very uncomfortable. Will Carl return next week with another of his tickets? Watch FreeKeene.com for the latest.

I'm friends with Mike Hagan of code enforcement. It's too bad a good guy like him has to be part of something like this.

Good video though. Jimmy Justice style almost.

Ian, have you talked to your tenants about this? They just might enjoy it. :)

Yeah, they were the ones that the "enforcer" first threatened.

Puke

Can't even fill out the ticket, eh?
The pressures of that job must be tremendous! ALl that driving and sitting in the park and sitting at the donut shop and harrassing people about thier own property and sitting some more.  ::)

McDuck

Great vid! ;D

What's your next move going to be if/when he returns?

Tell him he'll be billed $10,000 for litter cleanup if he leaves his trash again.

I really like the presentation. Very slick, to the point and entertaining. You do a wonderful job at highlighting the ridiculousness of it all. The DEA with Skull is a bit creepy and what the hell was he saying about "Vote". Ummm okay I guess comprehending simple questions and answering them is a bit too much. When in doubt just say "Vote".

Another thing I am noticing these days is how stiff and uncomfortable the public servants get when you bring up the Constitution. It's almost become a dirty word.

Good Work! oh and Thank you!

But why is Ian talking about the Constitution when he is an anarchist who doesn't believe in the validity of Constitutions?

Simply to point out the hypocrisy of the guy attempting to ticket him who doesn't even abide by his own rules, a constitution which he probably swore an oath to in the assumption of his role as a "public servant".

Yup.  It is afterall, just a god-damned piece of paper.  The current decider has said that himself.

Dave Ridley

i tend not to bring up the constitution much anymore, even to remind people they're violating their oath.

it makes people think i'm a constitutionalist instead of an anti-federalist

Funny he specifically mentions Joe Arpaio, one of the reasons I left AZ.
