"Many a false step is made by standing still."

That was from my fortune cookie last night at Old JP's birthday party.   :)

Nice!

There are many people who really don't care about anything in the world that happens - even their own liberty.  They do not know or care about what is going on.

It has been nearly impossible for me to convince these type of people to care about even one important topic.

What the hell can I possibly say to these people?

Mike,
You have to understand that a our take on most issues fly in the face of everything people have been taught, all , of their lives.
Taking in and understanding what we have to say requires a scary, learning curve on their part, and, of course, most people will take the easy, lazy, route and not do the work it takes to absorb what we propose.
It, often, takes a catastophic event in the life of someone who is set in their ways and beliefs to make the kind of change in their thinking that we desire.
I think our future lies in people who are already libertarians and malleable youth, not, intrying to make the people described above understand us.

Just keep trying. Eventually something you say, at the right time in their lives, may strike a chord. I don't think there is any special way of talking to them. Just be yourself. Be honest and sincere.

Some time ago (after learning of the FSP and before I had moved) I opened a fortune cookie and nothing was there.  Nothing at all.  Not even a blank paper.

I thought how terribly scary this might be to the truely superstitious.

I just smiled a very satisfied smile and said, "Well, it looks like it is all up to me now."

   . . . best furtune cookie I ever had . . .
