How is NH concerning mods to cars like exhaust etc?

Lloyd Danforth

We've had exhaust systems on our cars for years now.

rmodel65

i mean are noise ordinance tight or no? ive got a 65 mustang fastback with headers and glass packs exiting to the sides
tint limits? etc

Lloyd Danforth

I hear they can be tough on tinting at inspection. Loud pipes will, probably, get you attention in the cities, but, not, say....Grafton.

Puke

I doubt there are that many ordinances about noise.
There are assholes with very loud cars all over this town.

As long as it passes inspection I guess.

rmodel65

the glass pack could be considered O.E.M. since it was a dealer option etc in 65 thanks to the shelbys

From what I understand your Mustang would probably be exempt from a lot of regs (specifically emissions) given its age.  The two biggest issues that I've read NH police will harass you about is window tinting and excessive exhaust noise (the latter can be somewhat controlled by your right foot ;D).

tint limits? etc

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NH/

Front side windows: no tint allowed.
Rear side windows: >35% VLT
Rear window: >35% VLT

Not sure if this will give us a problem when we move, because 3-sides window tint is standard in this part of the country. They come that way from the factory (and anyone who's ever driven in sunny Texas knows why!)

If you are not a dickhead about noise there is usually not a problem.

There are places that have gotten sick of the noise BS, mostly because of bikers, and have passed local regulations, Hampton Beach and Laconia being two I know of of the top of my head.

The tint standard is based on the federal regulations.

John Edward Mercier

Laconia has a specific noise ordinance?

I think you may be confusing the State statute regarding motorcycle noise with a local ordinance.
