Unexpected changes :-(

I exported some pictures from iPhoto today, planning to let y'all know what we look like. I didn't know I'd be using one of those pics so soon.

This is Killer:



He named himself, by strutting into the house and kicking butt on every quadruped in sight. Our best guess is half Pomeranian, half Chihuahua, 11 pounds of fury. We brought him home from the local shelter in March 2002, when he was about 10 months old.

And I had to bury the little shit tonight. Mary called me at work about 8:30 tonight, highly distraught. She was letting the dogs out for to do their business, and Killer didn't respond to the call. He frequently gets himself shut into a bedroom while hiding under a bed, so she checked all the rooms. And then found him in the kitchen, under her computer desk, already stiffening. We have no idea what happened. At 4, he should have had at least 10 more healthy years. We expected him to outlive all our other dogs.

The little shit. Had to go and croak during a drought, so that I had to work up a sweat at midnight to dig a hole.

I'm going to make him a plaque: "Killer. c.2002 - August 7, 2005. Named himself. No damn good."
