I'm a big foreign film lover and have enjoyed this film for over 10 years. But it was only recently that I noticed there is something missing in it. When a major crime happens the town takes care of this criminal themselves you never see any police in the whole damn thing. Now keep in mind this story is about a woman and her family over several decades, it is not a political film.

I felt like some of you here might enjoy watching what would appear to be a voluntary town solve their own problems, again not the plot just part of the background but worth noting. It's also just a great film. It is Dutch and is subtitled.

Please ignore the summary on IMDB I have no idea how they get feminism and liberalism just because the main character is a woman who is strong and independent.

Is the Netflix description any better?
QuoteWinner of the 1995 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and many other prestigious international honors, Antonio's Line is the remarkable story of a woman who builds a new life with her daughter in a quiet Dutch village after World War II. Earthy, sexy, romantic and filled with laughter and warmth, it's a joyous, multi-generational celebration of simple pleasures and enduring passions

We like foreign films too, and Netflix has really opened a new world in that regard. We've seen lots of well-acted, artfully produced British movies since we started using Netflix.

This one gives us a 4-star recommendation (based on The Station Agent and Billy Elliot), so I added it to the queue. Thanks for the heads-up.  8)
