Small government activists in Manchester call an emergency demonstration outside Manchester city hall after local politicians try to thwart a popular spending cap referendum.  The demonstration should begin around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept 5. Then the board of aldermen enter city hall to vote. They'll decide whether to allow this issue on the November ballot...or consign it to an expensive special election (in which its passage would be less likely).

I may be at Murphy's before then working....  I should be able to head over there.

Sent to one of "my" aldermen:

Hi Mr. Lopez.  Dave Ridley here from Ward 5.  I have always enjoyed talking with you and appreciated your civil demeanor.  But I wanted to let you know how displeased I am at the act of aggression you apparently committed against taxpayers yesterday.  Trying, through delay, to keep a spending cap off the November ballot..and place it instead into an expensive separate election....

Public reaction is runnning 24-to-1 against you.  Those are the people who pay your salary; it's not right to impose this expenditure on them for the election when you could do it with no additional cost.

Just appalling.  I, and all Manchester it appears, are speechless.

We had a good turn out last night, and many of us were there until after midnight still standing strong insisting on our right to vote on this referendum, but the politically motivated tyrannical aldermen succeeded in degrading and railroading the 4000+ signers of the petition.
