It's so discouraging out here.

I'll be moving to New Hampshire in 2010 if everything goes to plan.  Going insane in the mean time.  I try to talk to people about the ideas of liberty but it's like I'm talking to the Berlin Wall.  My family here is in love with Palin and everywhere I look I see Obama signs.  Kansas City just adopted a new Climate Protection Plan and here I thought they were already balancing the budget on credit.  Missouri is a pretty free state to live in, I'll give it that.  But nobody's here.  Just mindless automatons with numerous blinking lights. Two years... two years.  I'll be almost 28 then.  I wonder if I'll still have hair.

Have other obligations at present so I figured now's a good time to get some orthodontic problems fixed.  I've been procrastinating for a few years and deciding to make the move got me in gear on it.  18 months of high melt value and absent disaster I'll be on my way August 2010.  Time for me to get my affairs in order and prepare with plenty to spare.

Jared

you should arrange a visit beforehand! do you know to which part of the state you're thinking of moving?

Paul

I definitely am.  I don't know when yet but it will happen.

Undecided. I currently plan to start in Manchester and feel it out from there.  My philosophies are more minarchist than pure voluntaryist so I still see a use for politics.  However I've read the climate in Keene is relatively forgiving (meteorological speaking, I like to garden).  Settlement will be a few years out so I'll probably go wherever I feel like I'm being effective or at least less discouraged.

Manchester is where most of the politically active freestaters have settled.

Jared

we need fresh freedom fighters in portsmouth ;)

Paul

The coast is definitely being considered.  I haven't really been able to get a solid feel for the activity and environment there though.  I take it there's a lot of socialism to battle?  Is it worse than Keene in which I've gotten the impression is pretty bad?

I'm not convinced how useful. Politics can be nice in that you usually get results in print.  I love all the civil disobedience I see on youtube though.  I haven't even been to a protest here.  Not this town.  I've thought about marching outside the local Federal Reserve in a tricorne hat with a 9 on my side but I'm pretty sure it'd go unfavorably. :)

There is a left of center leaning in Keene, but in the last mayors election less than 4,000 people voted out of a city of about 25,000 people.  It is prolly not too much worse than anyone else.   :)

Welcome! Why wait so long?
you know ... sometimes it is harder to move from missouri to NH than all ... the ... way ... from ... Boston
(you know I have to hassle you guys who moved a whole hour for the FSP)

BTW ... I get along great with minarchists ... as long as they think that the "mini-government" should not hurt anyone ... then that should lead to freedom for everybody :)

Such minarchists are essentially voluntaryists even if they don't know it yet.

I know Varrin would like some help with his campaign, so it's not as though politcos would have nothing to do in Keene...

Paul

A lot can happen in two years.  It will no doubt be exciting when I finally get there.  I feel closer to home already!

I would suggest Keene myself. . . if I convince my girlfriend on Grafton (which is coming along splendidly) I can work on her some more and try for Keene.
