Ok, I've saved some links regarding rights to travel and some seatbelt safety statistics. I'll go over those and send them to my reps. Also, I've contacted an insurance agency with the question "if I'm in an accident and not buckled up, how does my behavior affect others carrying the same insurance and are the repercussions monetary?" Hopefully, I'll hear back soon. I'll call around to some other places and see what the general consensus is.

Also, I added an attachment for the petition. Download it, print it and go for it!!! Please!!

Oh, and one of my reps said as soon as he heard when this bill was going to committee, he'd call me.....

Alrighty, here is the petition again. The last place I had it was a bit obscure. Does anyone know if there is a folder or briefcase for this site to place downloadables?

We can make a whole page about this topic on the wiki and make it nice and organized. :)

I could see the logic behind this thinking. If an injury is made worse by not wearing a seatbelt, then someone is going to have to cover those costs. Usually that would be the person that caused the accident (or their insurance company).
I am not sure that wearing seatbelts actually helps prevents injury. I don't wear them. :)
I could ask my brother-in-law who works for Mercury Insurance in CA what are all the different ways to look at the situation. But it is probably better covered in studies that you have found already. Could you post the links here?

So any news yet? I think a few of us are dying to show up when they discuss this issue.

Rodinia

Sorry, I've not been on the computer much the past week and a half. I was intensly focused on the whole seatbelt thing while my husband has been having to work late and my son was missing out on some much needed attention to say the least. I've been making up for lost time....

Anyway, I've not heard any news about a committee meeting yet. I'm still keeping my ears open and making phone calls and writing to newspapers. It's really hard to rally people up to the cause. They seem to really only know how to follow. It's hard to try to get them to think for themselves......

I keep looking for the bill to show up, but haven't seen it submitted yet.

Rodinia

I just called the house clerk and she doesn't know anything about it....I guess I'll call James Pinhead, I mean Pilliod and ask him whats up.

Russell Kanning

You keep up the good work. If people only want to follow...maybe we can get them to follow us. ;D
