A man wearing a bullet resistant vest, two guns, and extra ammo was accosted and kidnapped by a man wearing a bullet resistant vest, a gun, extra ammo, mace, a taser, and restraint devices.

Who is the bad guy?  :-\

Wow, these people are Free Staters! They're discussing it on nhunderground.com.

Didn't I say these nuts are dangerous and are going to get someone hurt? Will people listen before it's too late? Were they going to "rebel"? Marshals, are you seeing this?

This is why we need to carefully consider everything we say in light of how people may perceive it. We're peace-loving people here; but not everyone recognizes that. Sometimes because they conflate obvious, unusual opportunity to commit violence (i.e. carrying 'weapons' * ) with the intent to do so.

In contrast, consider that when you drive down a highway, you have 120+ MPH closing speeds with oncoming traffic, and they're passing only a very few feet away from you. The opportunity for something to go horribly wrong and instantly kill lots of people is all around us; but we largely ignore it because most of the time *nothing happens* -- because people are capable of planning for the future and making intelligent judgements and don't want to hurt other people, especially when they know there are consequences for their actions.

* In the end, you are the weapon. Everything else is simply a tool, an extension of your will. Consider people, not their tools.

Well, there was one useful piece of information in that article:—

QuoteTrials were set for Dec. 9.

... [W]ill be arraigned at a future date in Manchester District Court.

This is apparently incorrect.
The correct court date is 2008-10-28, at Manchester District Court, at 08:15.

they didn't hurt anyone ... but I bet that cop has in the last month

People who've shown repeatedly over the past thirty-six years that they will take anything that's said and twist it around until it can be criticized?  People who demonstrate, if not with their words, then with their actions and advocacies, that they fear personal responsibility, loss of the leadership that gives their lives direction, or sacrifice of the possibility of control over others that validates their own poor choices?  NO, damnit!  It's time to stop worrying about how some petty pissant peon is going to misinterpret every word and gesture, and start saying, loud and proud, "We love our freedom, now get out of the way and let us have it!"
(It's also time to clarify exactly what the inevitable "or else . . ." that necessarily follows that declaration entails.)

On their way to commit a crime...now that's a bunch of BS.

From the WMUR article:

Quote"He didn't have a permit to conceal either the weapon or the ammunition," Rondeau said.

1. There is no 'permit' pertaining to the situation.
2. Concealing ammunition is in no way a crime in NH. You can't get a permit to conceal something that is not illegal to conceal. It's also not illegal to conceal an unloaded "weapon". It is only illegal to conceal a loaded gun or have a loaded gun on your person while operating a motor vehicle without a LTC.

The police can't even get their own legal points straight.

Of course not.  Most of them don't know their own rules.  They just make it up as they go along.

When in doubt: Disorderly Conduct!  Disturbing the Peace!  Resisting an Officer!  Of course, those are charges used on people they think can't afford lawyers...

Yes Disorderly Conduct is used 9 times out of 10 in my experience when an officer wants you to stop doing something he doesn't personally like. Using your first amendment right to freedom of speech is often met with stop or I will charge you with disorderly conduct.

In fact, that was just used on Russell to stop his small, peaceful protest on public property. If the constitution was worth a crap, it would have been clearly protected his activity as simply free speech.

When in doubt "journalists" will always write the story from the most sensational angle.

In this case, "People with guns and body armor MUST be off to kill all the children!"

John Edward Mercier

That would pretty much sum up the county SWAT teams >:D

Good point! It's the one's with badges that are off to hurt people.
But it's OK for them to do so.  >:(
