Jason Howard called in to Porc-411 to report he was detained and forcibly disarmed for open carrying. He said he was in Hooksett but didn't say exactly where. His # is 944-3908.

An update from Jason: The cops told him that someone reported he took his gun out of his holster, but he says he never did. The cops did return his firearm after spending a few minutes trying to harass and intimidate him, he says.

I can't attach the message because it's too large. You should be subscribed to Porc-411 if you want to receive these messages.

Time for an open carry litter pickup down Hooksett's main street?

Just in on Porc-411 - Clark Phillip - Dover NH - appx 8pm Sat Oct 25th.  Open carrying on his bicycle. Went into convenience store, made a purchase, approached by two Dover police officers, they immediately asked him if he was a free stater - he told them he was.  The officers were nice according to Clark.  They asked him a few questions about why he chooses to decide to openly carry.  Never restrained or detained or disarmed him.  Seems like it was pretty casual.

Ultimately, they shouldn't be stopping OCers at all, but if they have to respond to every single call (e.g., Manchester's policy), this is exactly how they should be doing it.

Both of these folks should be invited to Taproom Tuesday. And to call in to Free Talk Live with their stories.

I think I would be doing some digging.  Who would do such a thing?  Though I have some possibilities.   In one city near me
they have an ordinance against open carry only, so I wear an empty holster in protest.  I've had police interactions twice for
"man with a gun" calls.  Interesting how that works.  >:D

Yeah, I'd like to at least invite Clark to our Seacoast Liberty meetup since it takes place in Dover.  Clark is likely a Dover-area resident since he was riding his bicycle there.

And to make it even better, do what Dave did, write to the Union Leader/Hooksett Banner and the peace officer's station a "Notice of Understanding and Intent, Claim of Right" informing them (and the public) of the peaceful event. This will show that the group is being up-front and honorable with the demonstration and not trying to shock & awe anyone to the point of creating "conflict". Anyone who doesn't feel comfortable with it, can avoid that area for the few hours it takes to do the public service.

Hey, where do you live?  It is against the law for a city or municipality in NH to make such laws, State law trunps local here in New hampster.

Not legal for a city in NH to have an ordinance against open carry.  Sounds like we need an open carry litter clean up there.

Yeah, I'd like to know also.

I've got a few questions when I open carry and I need to write up a short little pamphlet to hand out to people during a situation like this.
