Illegal Drug Possession Protest

I think it's a wise idea to emphasize the no-open-carry request. Combining open carry with drug related CD could turn into a much bigger issue, particularly if feds are involved.

And have a handful of cameras see them willfully not enforcing a law?  That would mean big trouble for them.  They have to arrest or fine me for possession to maintain their illusion of legitimacy.

The trouble would only come from public response. Nobody in the system will mind that they do not process a case which could threaten the legitimacy of the system.

Whether the "trouble" would be greater from a failure to arrest or an arrest which wins you sympathy, I don't know, but you can bet they'll choose whichever option threatens their legitimacy least.

Yah, exactly.  I did not mean their boss would be angry with them; I meant the public would see the hypocrisy of selectively enforcing laws.  Are they gonna let a young white man go today, only to arrest a young black man tomorrow?  I think we're all interested to see how they'll handle the situation.

I agree.

Make sure that once you set a date for this, you're not keeping any of the illegal substances (or anything else illegal, for that matter) in your apartment or on your person. I'm sure they'd love to raid you a day or two before the planned event, so instead of a big media civdis demonstration, it becomes a run-of-the-mill pot bust that won't even be newsworthy.

Definitely.  I do NOT want anyone carrying any weapon of any kind in any way.  I don't want to give them the opportunity to change the subject of the protest, or to dodge the message completely by focusing on something unrelated.  I want, and we all want, to force them to acknowledge the protest as drug related, and we want them to act accordingly.

Yah, I have thought of that already and I've got a plan to work around it.

I know I said this before, but wow!

I will try and be there to report on it.  If you could send me a press release in the next week (by the 7th), I'll put it in the Nov. paper.

Couple thoughts:  I wonder if the state house might be a better location since the state law and attacks upon it are always in the news.  it also puts washington in the position of physically butting in at the state house itself.

also if you have any second thoughts about this andrew, now is the time to back out (not later).

i wonder if it might be better to have a hemp plant that is not smokeable (industrial type hemp)...so this starts to become less about the right to get high and more about the right to own shirt-making material.

have you considered how to handle the possibility that they would let the event go start to finish then seize you or issue paperwork later?

If he finds a leaf, that is actually hemp. The bud from the female plant is the drug portion.

I think it's clearly not about getting high as Andrew doesn't use and has stated he has no intention to use. He's challenging the absurd substance possession laws which are particularly absurd when you're talking about a weed that grows all over the place.

True, though the cops probably don't know that, and he can be busted for possessing hemp too, I imagine.  Go with both if you're unsure.   8)

I don't think anyone's doubting that they'll arrest him for hemp. The point was to only have hemp and make it that much more obviously absurd when they arrest him over something that's not even a drug.

Well he'll need a certified Hemp plant. Anyone got one of those???   Hemp cannabis strain with .5%-0% THC content?     This protes is not very bright.  The last thing you want to do is spend hundreds on a fine and tarnish your record.  Your better off rolling a bag full of joints and handing them out to everyone in a local bar when a good band is playing.

Their has been times I have wanted to flood a court room with joints and packs of matches, to protest.  Yet I thought twice because it would only mean more trouble for myself and others that would get involved it sure would look good on wnne 31, and wmur 9 though LMAO.         Perhaps there is a better way of going about this?    NH is anti Marijuana to the point they can put you in jail for possession, not a good state to do a Marijuana protest in.

Big WasSup to all my people in Grafton County, doin time for the vine.

Apparently, this thread has attracted all the civil disobedience newbies.

Please stop with the, "Gosh, you could get in trouble!" posts.  People participating in civil disobedience like Andrew are expecting a violent outcome on the part of the state.  That's part of the purpose!  Here's how it works:

You break a law publicly.

The state either ignores it and looks impotent or cracks down and looks violent.  Either way, their legitimacy is chipped away.

Sometimes, afterwards, the politicians even change a law over it, though this should not be an expected response.

I actually think it's brilliant.

Beg your pardon, but I don't really think you know what Andrew wants to do.  I don't speak for him, but if I were in his shoes, I wouldn't be paying any "fine", and don't give a flip about THEIR "record".

Alright, Andrew just forget about it.  Go home.  The laws are too tough to protest.  You should just keep your head down and not rock the boat.  You wouldn't want to get in trouble would you?

I'd very much enjoy this idea as well.
