Perhaps we should attend this "Community Policing Academy;" maybe they'll deputize us!

The Manchester Police Department Community Policing Division is presently planning to host a CitizensAcademy beginning on October 22 and concluding in mid December. Dates have not been finalized. Attendees can expect to meet once a week during the evening for approximately two hours.

This program is an informational program designed to introduce citizens to the excitement of police work and the more tedious components of the job. The program is not designed or intended to certify anyone to become a police officer or act in the capacity of a law enforcement official.   All of the presentations will be made by Manchester Police Officers.

At the completion of the program, the citizen will have a better understanding of the law enforcement profession and may locate a particular area of interest you may wish to pursue further and perhaps contribute to your community by volunteering.

Class will be limited to 20 people. If you are interested in making a commitment to attending all of the classes, please call the Manchester Police Department at 668-8711 and leave a message for Officer Marc Ampuja at extension 584 or Officer Rondeau at extension 310. Either officer will contact you with more information about how to apply.

I have no doubt that that sort of infiltration will one day be vital.

Fluff and Stuff

According to the dates, it looks as though it is too late to sign up for the class.

Nah, it will only make one dependent on the generous gov't paychecks and pension plans.  Then suddenly there will be lots of encouragement to 'infiltrate' the gov't, creating more dependents.  There are porcs right now who cannot move because they are tied to a gov't job.

It's not a job. It's some sort of neighbor hood watch thing.

Actually, it's not a neighborhood watch thing--it's largely a PR thing.  Also, it's a good opportunity (from their way of thinking) to indoctrinate a few potential informants.
