Plenty more laughable items on that page.

QuoteAddress Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

IF a new AWB comes into play, who is with me for an 'open carry' AK-47/AR-15 protest in Concord?

Even before I believed in anarchism, it made no sense to me to deny anyone a gun unless you were personally keeping them locked away from society. Two things - first you can't keep them from getting a gun with criminal intent. Secondly, you can't deny someone self-protection unless you are taking it upon yourself to protect them. So either provide them a 24-hour armed escort who protects them and the people they interact with or keep them locked up. Anything else makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm only partially hooked on anarchism, but I agree 100%.  I should have every tool available to me for self-protection and should not be restricted because 'criminals' might have a 'criminal' intent with the same tool.

It's collective punishment, and an attempt to subvert the People's ability, responsibility, and duty to keep a government in check.  Especially a government that was supposedly created "for the people, by the people."

Everyone? That was one of the main legal distinctions between the nobility and the peasantry in most societies, actually: Noblemen were allowed to bear arms, the peasants weren't.

They needed some way to oppress the peasants so they wouldn't rise up and overthrow.  In BO's world we'll have Noblemen, criminals, peasants, and those willing to stand up for themselves and the peasants.

Great idea.

If I am there when/if it happens & I won't get arrested - I will carry a replica M4.

If we have a potential for an AWB, we *will* have this.  First few protests may be unarmed, but we'll step up to armed if we need.

Friday

Wouldn't this sort of event just make it easier for the cops to take your AW away?   :-\  Right or wrong, it would also probably make clueless bystanders feel frightened and threatened.

How about an event where everyone carries a sign saying "I've got an AW at home, and you're NEVER gonna take it"   :protest:

K. Darien Freeheart

This is a catch 22 for me.

Guns are pretty high on my list of things to act about. Incidentally, I'm at the point where I believe that political activism is a complete and total failure, yet guns + civil disobedience scares the bejesus out of me. It's not a matter of public opinion here, guns are one of those things that WILL invoke a violent response done incorrectly. Someone posted something like this on the FTL BBS yesterday, only the plan was to march on DC.

That's what I was thinking, what if they take away everyone's Aks?   Or think/say that they are loaded and start shooting everyone?   I mean I think it's a great idea but lets face it most cops are looking to screw protestors, resistors, whatevers, over and this might be a perfect opportunity for them. :-\
