I think that case is still open... as he would either need to violate minimum wage laws... or pay his employees very well.

Also the IRS really shouldn't care... If I pay you seven one-dollar silver coins for an hour of your labor... and you later sell the coins for the $70-80 dollars you can get in the open market. The IRS can go after you for capital gains. It also lowers the deductible expense allowed by the business owner towards their taxes.

And the SSA can claim that you did not earn enough credits for inclusion in the program.

It takes a top notch International Financier to find loopholes worth exploring... and even then the Congress can change the laws, if the loophole becomes overused.
