I have a question to add to this post:

I'm moving to Milford in the next several weeks and will be working out of a home office.  I'll require broadband access.  It looks like my options come down to Comcast, MV, and Verizon DSL (no FiOS yet  :'().

Speed being somewhat a concern, my main concern is connectivity during inclement weather--I would take a slower connection (as long as its broadband) which is up more frequently.

I've had cable and DSL before, and my personal experience has been that DSL has gone down less, but that may be just my experience.  Oh, and I should add that my company reimburses me for the bulk of my Internet expenses, so cost is less a factor.  I suppose DSL would go down when your landline phone goes down and cable when your cable TV goes down, so if anyone knows which happens more frequently in NH, it would be great if you could comment on it.

Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!

I had the same choice....

I choose Cable... because I didn't want to get a home phone line.

Verizon isn't selling naked DSL here yet?

Not in Derry. We tried. So we went with cable and voip phone service.

I'm not so impressed with Comcast over my previous provider, TDS. I might move again just so I can get them back.

I'm not crazy about Comcast either. We don't lose service much but the customer service has been really bad the few times we have needed it.

I've had pretty good luck with Comcast in Somersworth.  I've had it since 2002, and I think it went down once.  All of the other problems I've had were with my equipment.  I read that the fastest internet in NH is at UNH-Durham.  I even got decent Wifi at Rogers campground, but I had to pay for it.
