I had a frank discussion about race and Obama's inauguration with a close African-American friend. She explained that because white people did not suffer through slavery, we could not possibly understand the way African-Americans feel about President Obama's historic win. She added that, for the first time in her life, she felt being African-American was an advantage rather than a disadvantage, and "that feels good."

You should remind her that SHE didn't suffer through slavery either. Maybe her great-great-grandmother did, but she did not.

So, who will get the blame now?

Democrats have both houses of Congress, the presidency, a black man is the chief executive, Hillary is in charge of foreign relations, and... what? Do they really think anything will change?

Who gets the blame now when the poor remain poor? Will it still be the rich white Republican who can't even block a bill through cloture?

Funny, I don't feel or see anything change.

It must take a few hours for the Messiahâ„¢ rays to reach NH.

Here's my Barack McSame story:

Today at USF Sarasota, I went into the student center at around 11:30. It's usually empty, but now there's 20 ppl in it awaiting their new ruler to take his throne on TV. I'm wearing a sweatshirt which I added some flare to...on the front is a printout that says 'We have no rulers' with the Voluntaryist V, and the back, a printout taped on of Lysander Spooner's quote about how a man is no less a slave because he can choose his masters. Below that is a anarcho-capitalist gadsden flag. I'm standing in the corner. When Barack steps up to take his oath, Dirty Feinstein tells everyone to stand. Everyone in the student center does because they're cool like that, so I take the opportunity to sit on the floor. Behind me, I hear people laughing about me sitting and I smile.

I leave afterwards and a female professor walks by me. I say hi, and she stops and asks what my shirt means. I tell her it's the symbol for a voluntary society, and she's like, "Excellent, I'm all for that!" She asks what I do and such, and I say I'm a supporter of out of the system activism, trying to get rid of bad laws, which are most laws. She's all supportive, and as we depart she says, "I'm glad to see you active, and today is a great day for our country!"

Funny how people think they know what you're talking about when they don't. Perhaps if she'd seen the back of my shirt with the Spooner quote, it would have been a little clearer. I'll wear the flare tomorrow as well for Constitutional Law, should be interesting.

Wow, that is a pretty cool story.  :D  I would have thought that she would've gotten your message when you didn't stand and of course your sweatshirt.   My daughter thinks it's so cool when I don't stand up when I'm told to or pledge my allegiance, but she admits she's not ready to sit it out yet.
