BookMooch.com is a place to trade your books. All you pay is the shipping to the person who wants your books. You don't pay for books shipped to you - except in the form of points.

Here is the "About" part of the site: http://www.bookmooch.com/about/overview
And the point system: http://www.bookmooch.com/about/points
Here is a review of the site: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/12/14/212734.php

This is cheaper than buying in the stores - as long as one doesn't spend more in postage than one would spend in the bookstore.

The site makes money if people buy through their Amazon link instead of mooching.

Sounds similar to PaperBackSwap.com
Been using them about a year.  Nothing but good to say about it.

I use Bookmooch, they are great. I have traded about 15 or 20 books over the last couple of years. Note, mostly what you will find are older books that have little or no resale value (i.e. you're probably not going to snag this year's bestseller). But I've gotten rid of quite a few I never imagined anyone would want, and picked up some that interested me in their place.

Also if you like to read check out LibraryThing. There is an FSP Readers group.

Thanks, Kat! I'll get some of those. Thanks, MattLeft for PBS. And turbo - LibraryThing looks like a good place to find conversation about the things I like to read about; not just the books themselves; Thanks!
