Glad to log on tonight and see that Mike is out. Granted it would be better if he was never in, but that's for another thread.

Sometimes you loose a battle, but you win the war.

I know how much it sucks to be sitting in a jail cell, and I can't blame anyone for leaving when they have had enough when bail is an option. You are a person we can all be proud to call friend.

Without going to far off topic here, would it be worth your while to apply for a NH LTC hoping it would help you out? Luckily in NH the gun charge, first offense isn't that big a deal usually... and I say that because what is run of the mill for most people when it comes to court proceedings turns into worst case scenario when a Free State supporter goes near a court. IN Massachusetts they are real Ball busters on gun charges and pile 5 charges on for having a gun without proper papers.

So anyway welcome back and good luck

I've written a little song parody to be used on judicial occasions, if you're of a mind to.

Huzzah!

Thanks, Neggy.

Regarding obtaining a Conceal Carry permit: I've thought about it. First, I realized that the government could issue a maximum 1 year jail sentence *and* a $1K fine (or was it $2K?) over a $10.00 shall-issue permit ("shall-issue" means they will issue it to anyone eligible, period). Is that sick, or what?

I did do what you're suggesting, but not with the gun charges. Today I did register my car with the state and got a NH driver license (total = ~$200. Yuck). I plan to make a point during their trial that, regarding the charges of driving without license or registration, I am not guilty of harming or threatening anyone, that they're victimless crimes (i.e., not actual crimes). But I paid the govt and got their paperwork with the hope that it would appease the judge and make her more lenient when handing out punishments.

I don't want to get a CC permit yet, though, still on principle (I don't need permission to have a gun). Their gun charges against me are ridiculous and I want to fight them for what they are; I'm not in a mindset to comply to kiss their ass on that issue. I think. :)

soon he will be in front of the judge again and we can see what happens ... we can bring popcorn and tomatoes to throw

Or a Shoe!

(did you see where they made a Statue out of the shoe that was thrown at George Bush?  They put it up in public (in Iran or Iraq) and then they suddenly took it down in short order.  Must have been more of our tax dollars at work...paying off the government there to take it down because it was "disrespectful" towards G.B.).

Ogre

Is it me, or would it be hilarious for a crowd to gather at a hearing and have one shoe per minute be thrown past a judge (not AT, because that would be assault on the king)?

Russell Kanning

you might not get all your money back
if they didn't need money ... then they wouldn't bill you, fine you, or tax you
people are who they are ... if they choose to remain the same ... i prefer to think our gang is growing an getting bettah all the time

The Barskey lives!

Is the celebration on raw food day ... Saturday?

Yes, it is!! Saturday at 1:00pm . . . I'm making raw pizza and I know Kat has some really great dishes planned. I've also heard of a few other treats that are coming. And, Barskey said he'll be there.  :D

Mike Barskey

I'll say it again: I'll be there. A relaxing day (or 2) with the peeps on the Animal Farm is juuust what the doctor ordered. I greatly look forward to it.

Russell Kanning

maybe kat will make her new blueberry dessert

Russell Kanning

animal farm is more fun than the ministry  of love

For whatever my opinion is worth...

Guns scare people. This is one of those hills that you don't want to die on until critical mass is reached. We all stand behind you, but for whatever calculations you might be doing, there WILL be many, many other chances to challenge this both in the short and the long term. Guns matter to liberty lovers and Statists hate guns. There's no lack of clashing over this.

I understand that your weapon wasn't loaded, and that the charge against you is flat out false. On the aspect of defending yourself from false alegation, I support everything short of you running yourself into the ground. A year in jail isn't great, but lying to accept someting you didn't do... Yeah.. We get it.

Thanks for your thoughts. The part the struck me the strongest was "there WILL be many, many other chances to challenge this both in the short and the long term." That's true. But at what point do I stop saying "I'll have future chances to challenge this" and start saying "this is the time I challenge it?" Do I wait until a charge against me is even weaker, so I have less of a chance of being imprisoned for a year over it?

Perhaps the answer is "This is one of those hills that you don't want to die on until critical mass is reached." Do I not challenge bad laws until there are enough other people challenging them simultaneously? Enough other people to do what? Critical mass for what? Being reported in the mainstream media? Scaring the govt into stopping enforcing that particular bad law (that would have be to one significant critical mass!).

I don't understand what you mean by this.
