Car Wash in Keene
« on: February 03, 2009, 12:38 PM NHFT »

Anyone know of a basic, hopefully inexpensive car wash in Keene? The salt builds up so quickly and I really just want to be able to run my car through something that will get most of that crap off, including underneath. Anything too fancy or expensive seems kind of pointless and excessive because it gets dirty again so fast but I fear if I don't get the stuph off regularly, my car is going to dissolve like an alka-seltzer.

Tough it out!  Live with it until Spring.  A more important thing to do would to go to one of those places where you wash the car yourself with a wand and run a couple of 'rinse' cycles spraying up underneath the car to get the salt off the bottom of that California Virgin Bug.

if you get out towards Seabrook on one of your treks, there's a 3 dollar wash in Salisbury

There's a place beyond Keene Cinemas with quarter self-operated wash and an automatic wash.  The salt will rust out your car.

The T-Bird has one on West St. by Hannford.  Cheshire Oil gives you a free coupon when you buy services from them.   8)

Bucket
Sponge
Brush

From the nearest Walmart. Probably under $10, and $0 each additional time you use it. ;D

In this weather? With cold water from a hose? I'd probably have to buy a hose too. Not sure if there is one on the house I'm renting a room in right now.

Not sure what it’s been doing out in Keene, but here in Manchester we keep getting a day or two of above-freezing temperatures, then back down to cold for a few days. Note that with the sun out, even if the air temperature is a few degrees below freezing, the water won’t necessarily freeze to the car, because the metal is heating up well above air temperature.

Key road past the cinema. It's the only self-serve place in town. $5 (I'm pretty sure.) to start.

Actually I did this and it's $3.50 to start. You can get the bulk of the gunk off your car with that if you just use the high pressure stream. It seems to work better than the brush anyway, which is slow.
