I'm reading the first one now, and just found out what Wizard's First Rule is last night. AMEN, BROTHER!!

I didn't really think the series was geared toward a younger audience...it had quite a lot of torture and rape. 
I agree; although the main characters are 20ish, I wouldn't consider this a kid's book.  Not unless you want your kid reading about child rape, child abduction, child murder, child mutilation, and 70 straight pages of seriously bloody BDSM action.   :o
