Every time I read something like this, my first thought is, Couldn't he have considered the rest of us and taken a few bureaucrats along with him?

Taking bureaucrats with him would have only strengthen those bureaucrat's system.

I like to think by just killing himself he was just a kind soul that would rather kill himself than allow bureaucrats to put a gun to peoples head to feed him in a cage.

I'd say just the opposite: what he did showed the bureaucrats exactly how effective they can be.

The cops can't make him look like a loony who shot at people though.
Just a loony who thought he was a free human.

I'd say just the opposite: what he did showed the bureaucrats exactly how effective they can be.

i disagree.
most people would look at this example & say:
"was he harming anyone?"
the mainstream generally accepts liquor more than, say, marijuana....
i think booze is more harmful than weed, personally, but booze be legal, in the eyes of the law.
to put a man in prison for making a "legal" substance, is confounding.
i think ol' popcorn's death will generate a great deal of sympathy, and, hopefully, anti-govt. sentiments, with respect to personal freedoms.
we'll see.
his death will prob. fade into the scenery in too short a time.
it is interesting to note ; his estranged daughter (lives in mass.) wrote a book about him & got it back from the printer on the day he died. (sky sutton)
for a funnier video of him, visit johnny knoxville's website (guy from the ''jackass'' movie....(not the j'raxis movie)

Wow he bought his coffin and tombstone before he died. It reads: "Popcorn Said Fuck You"

The news articles I read about his arrest and conviction had almost universal sentiment in the comments sections: "Leave the old man alone, he's not hurting anyone!"

The additional comments that were added after his death were along the lines of, "There, are you happy now? He's never going to make moonshine again."

Buy the "Last One" DVD, or order his book. He set it up so that his widow would receive the benefits of the 2nd edition of "Me and my Likker" ($58):
