I did a serarch and didnt see this topic anywhere, so here goes.

If anyone is bothered by spyware concerns, or the increase in malicious code propogating all over the 'net, here is a solution.

Its called Mozilla Firefox. Its virtually immune to the vast majority of malware thats out there.

The reason is simple, the hackers know the majority uses Internet Explorer, thus, they tailor thier virii accordingly.

Firefox is the square peg in a round hole, like gasoline in a diesel, or Bush and coherent sentences.

Its a small download, the program is streamlined and offers full 128 Encryption and true Java support.

...and very few plugins even exist for Firefox, thus rendering it useless at many times.

In my professional opinion, keep using Internet Explorer, but be careful what you do on the internet, and run "Ad-Aware" and "Spybot Search and Destroy" once in a while to keep spyware, adware, and malware off your PC.  Also, make sure you do your Windows Updates!

What you just described is beyond the skill or patience of most users.

I use Firefox for online banking, the FSP java chat, shoutcast radio, newsgroups, surfing and of course these forums.

Havnt had a problem yet.

Note I did not say "uninstall IE". Just use Firefox for safe browsing and open IE should you stumble on something unsupported.

Or, enslave yourself to sweeping updating and disinfecting on a weekly basis.

Firefox has worked fine for me, but I am still using Opera. :)

Grunt

Whoa...crank up the way back machine!

I tried Opera back in the 56k days, it was a lifesaver.

Russell Kanning

I use opera on windows computers and linux.

Kat Kanning

I saw La Boheme in college.  That's my only experience with live opera.

Was it better then Rocky Horror?  8)

FTL_Ian

I use firefox.  There are only a few occasions where some java won't work, and I have to open IE.  Very occasional, though.

Ian

Explains what, Lloyd??  I think you'd better clarify that!  You don't want me to have to chain you to a pole in the middle of winter, do you??  I'd do it you know.  I'm in an ornery mood.
