Feel free to post any book or book and book shelf porn here.  ;D

This is a Ikea collection, of shelves.
Not to shabby.

Lame collection, too neatly organized, by people who value neatness over books.

Our collection is in boxes and suitcases, in the attic and every closet. Every visit to the loo invites an avalanche of books. Welcoming guests involves clearing space, which means books go on any available horizontal surface (the bookshelves are already bursting).

I love neatness and organization. I also love reading.

Books win.

Sigh. Some times Mary should just slap you.

I need to build shelves in my new place.  :-\

Building a stable shelf with right angles by oneself can be a bitch though.

No, its not James!  Consult with Jim or Roger or a book from the library.

Kevin!  Years ago, I would deliver papers for a friends son when he went on vacation.  One of his customers had a door mat with this on it:

"Boring People Have Immaculate Homes"

The joy of reading a book is reading it, not searching to find it in a box, unless it's a rare book and you are searching someone elses boxes so that you can obtain a copy.

Kevin has probably been packing for his move for years.

Rule 1:  Have the book!

Rule 2:  Be able to put your hands on the book!

How do you organize the books you have on the shelves now?
I have two systems.
The books I haven't read are on a shelf in the kitchen, a central location that I can grab one if I have some read time available. Currently in random order, occasionally the books are ordered from least likely to be read to most likely to be read.
The books I have read, and may want to read again are in alphabetical order on a homemade bookcase, shelf distance is 1/8" more than the height of a paperback.
The books that I have read and do not want to read again are in alphabetical order in two boxes in the living room waiting to be mailed out via paperbackswap (despite the name they swap all books)
The books that I have read and might read again or it's just fun to have are arranged randomly on three bookcases.

About |----| that much.

It's the ~400 real books I already own that need shelves.
