I have a Kindle and a Kindle 2. I mostly have free books on it, but also order first run books through Amazon. The pricing on magazines and newspapers is much too high and the idea of paying for blogs is ridiculous.

It was interesting to me when I ordered the first one how many people liked the e-ink but complained about the price. I thought the original price was actually set too low, as evidenced by the shortage. I would expect the price to go down and the quality to go up for quite a while.

Here are some things I like:
- I travel every week, and often have 5-10 books and ~20 articles already being read or in the queue
- I do travel with a laptop and a Blackberry as well , but find that reading is much easier on e-ink without a backlight
- There are many sources of free ebooks, many out of print, that I am now able to read
- We use the Robinson Curriculum in part for our homeschooling, and the children prefer the Kindle to a home-printed book when we can find an unabridged copy online -- they are reading at a much faster pace and most of the books are available online
- I like having the Bible with me, and no longer carry my Palm (although the Kindle software is not adapted as well to Bible reading)
- The whispernet network technology is free for web surfing and book shopping
- Samples (usually the first two chapters) are free and feel like browsing at a bookstore

I expect that reading options will continue to improve. I am a bibliophile, but the Kindle is the first product for ebooks that I think competes favorably with the look and feel of a book.

Wow! Two Kindles.
I bought mine just before the Ver. 2 came out.

I guess I'll wait for the Ver. 3. Hopefully it'll have color. That would be sweet.

I don't get it, these are beautiful pictures and I love to read but what does this thread have to do with porn?  Did something go over my head again?

If a book doesn't have a dust-jacket, is it naked?     ;D  8)

Nah, they're shaped wrong and don't have a battery compartment.  ;D

Okay, try getting the battery operated toy and then looking at the picture...  :)

I now have the first of many bookcases completed.
It's been years since I had my books out of storage and it feels great to have them on display again.  :)

Thanks go to Fasilly-tator for the help and use of his fine tools.  8)
