My view of refering to humans as barnyard animals

I just wanted to state that if a person does something wrong there is nothing to be gained by referring to that person as a barnyard animal.

Any time you refer to a group of humans as a noun you contribute to mentally removing the humanity from that group.  I doubt that anyone hear has the goal of dehumanizing any group.  As an alternative I consider it more constructive to attack the actions of a person.

So can I comment on whether a police officer's actions are piglike?

freeman4liberty

You can do as you like Ryan.  I just don't think it's productive to refer to officers as barnyard animals.

I believe in freedom of speech, but that doesn't mean that all protected speech is productive or constructive.

In fact if you say that a police officer's actions are piglike, you are attacking the actions and not the person.  I did not wish to criticize any criticism of actions.  I only wished to to criticize the dehumanizing aspect of some language.

I've called them pigs on many occasions, and recently have decided to tone it down.  After all, such a name as pig is not fitting for these guys.  There really isn't an animal as slimy and disgusting.  In fact, I find it an insult to the great animal such as the swine.

They don't deserve to be shown such disrespect.  To share a name with such a band of thugs?  Sure, pigs got a bad rep in Animal Farm. . .but they're smart. . . and, you know,

you don't have to be a genius to be a cop, just a bully.  Of course, not all cops are bad, just mostly bad apples. . . hello. . .hello?

It's funny you should mention "Re: My view of refering to humans as barnyard animals". As a migrant farm worker I see parallels to farm animals and the American Sheeple all the time. Remind me to give examples when I have time.

I don't call them pigs, it is unfair to the animal.
