I could really use some advice please; about my dentist

Okay, here goes:

Last year there was this filling he was replacing in my molar and he said the filling was close to the nerve but I agreed with him to give a filling a try instead of a root canal.  A year goes by and the damn tooth started throbbing so I ended up needing a root canal anyway but I was okay with that because I agreed to give it a try and see if the tooth would be okay, so I paid up for the root canal.

When I was there recently for a check up my dentist discovered that a filling he put in another molar cracked so he scheduled an appointment to fix it at no charge, fine.  Well, as he was fixing it he saw that it needed a bigger filling so I got partially charged and he discovered a cavity in another tooth.   I was sick so I didn't say anything but I was thinking, gosh, you didn't notice that cavity during my check up?

Now, the molar he repaired is killing me, I think he drilled into a nerve, who is responsible if I need a root canal?   I really, really, like him but I'm not rich and I don't want to pay for his mistake if he drilled into the nerve.  This time he didn't even tell me he was close to the nerve but I know what nerve pain feels like so I'm pretty sure he did.  What should I do? :-\

I'd call him Rainey and ask him to take a look at it and hopefully he did do something wrong.  Waiting on it is never good because the longer you the wait the longer amount of time they can say you "did something yourself" to it.

If money becomes an issue, I became a patient at a private teaching school in Boston who took on patients to practice.  I had a lot of work done there and suggest it to anyone.  It still costs money but it's much cheaper.

Sorry Rainey. . . swish salt water and use mouthwash frequently is what helped me a lot.

Thanks!  :)   I have an appointment this Thursday for the newly found cavity anyway so I will be seeing him soon.  I'm just not sure if I should talk to him about it or the finance people.  I've been swishing with salt water and your right it does help, I just wonder for how long.   Then again I only have a day and a half left.  :)

I put all of this on a Care credit card that they offer otherwise there's no way I could ever afford a root canal.

Ha, I remember I went to a beauty teaching school to have them dye and cut my hair, I walked out so pissed off!   I had the worst cut of my life and green hair.  My sister ran into me at the Sallys beauty store, I was wearing a baseball hat and she knew something was wrong so of course I had to take it off and show her.  It was around Xmas time so I got the "let's hang some balls on her head joke a lot!  :-[
