They already have most of us fingerprinted under the newer DL's.

Is that the case in NH?  My DL expires in less than a year and I am not inclined to cooperate with fingerprint taking.  This could be a serious problem eh?

I would like to know where the broke state of Michigan will get the funding for Real ID, from the crystler bankruptcy? ]:>

Good question, but then again I'm sure they'll get the money somewhere just to screw with the "citiziens".  :-\

This popped up while I was reading about the man arrested in Albuquerque for not showing ID at the airport.

Here's a blog that covers the issue:
http://philosecurity.org/2009/05/28/doctors-require-photo-id-for-treatment

And the FTC's explanation page:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/articles/art11.shtm

Note that the law does not require seeing or copying ID. It requires that "creditors" (which they now define so as to include clinics that bill for services rendered) develop and implement a written policy to deter identity theft.

That is all.

Here's a written policy that would comply with the red flag rule: "In order to deter identity theft, we encourage anonymity and will not copy or scan identity documents, nor otherwise record the information found on them."
