Honestly, I'm already wondering how the hell Taproom Tuesday works anymore.  The pro-Ivy faction on this side of the room, and the anti-Ivy faction on that side? The pro-Travis faction on this side, and the anti-Travis faction on that side?  The in-the-system folks on that side, the outside-the-system folks on that side, and the self-professed anti-system anarchists deeply entrenched in the political system on that side.... doesn't a room only have four sides???  Or does everyone temporarily set aside their differences for that which matters most i.e. beer?   :occasion14:

This is why I am really dreading PorcFest. I hope my expectations are proven wrong.

Can't we all just get a dog????

Wait something is wrong there maybe it should be cant we all just get a log

"What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs
    Rolls over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack and fits on your back?
    It's Log, Log, Log!

    It's Log, Log, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's Log, Log, it's better than bad, it's good!
Everyone wants a log! You're gonna love it, Log!
Come on and get your log! Everyone needs a Log!"

I'm not sure what you mean.  Do you mean you feel that you'll be forced to pick sides?  Or that, if you do another Fun Tent, you'll wind up buying alcohol for people you'd really rather not buy alcohol for?

I have no problem picking sides. What I'd hate to see is people fighting, or people on one side avoiding keeping it real with me because I'm keeping it real with people on the other side. It just sounds like a big nightmare.

One problem with this strategy is that, so far, many of us have been in the habit of posting open invitations to events in places where other Porcupines are likely to see them eg. this forum, various Yahoo lists, and Facebook.  Either a tactful way needs to be found to post such invitations with caveats such as "the following list of people are NOT invited..."  :-\, or public posting of events such as Thanksgiving Day Dinner will need to cease for those who choose to be selective in which community members they wish to associate with.

Yes that's a real issue.  We had an open carry litter pickup down here.  The guy who likes to insult people showed up made some derogatory comments, then left.  The funny thing is that if this guy stayed and picked up litter with the rest of us that would have improved my opinion of him.

Oh and Kat, I don't carry a gun either.  I do pick up litter.   :D

Tom Sawyer

I have a policy of only allowing close to me and mine people I trust. I have been somewhat bothered by the belief among some folks that every last person who comes along is to be accepted and even embraced.

As a member of a persecuted minority I have survived with the help of an instinct for threats. Networks of trusted friends... that's were it is at.

the fun tent ... when keepin it real goes wrong

our movement is getting bigger, so it has to split into smaller groups that might have similar goals

and if the fun tent gets too big and rowdy, sometimes you have to call the fuzzzz in ;)

Ay now Laddie every family needs a nice
brawl now and again to clean out the cob-webs
and grievances.

But if yer not into that, we can just declare the fun tent
neutral ground. Or if ya want a fine big er discussion I
could play the drunken family uncle who always starts
the fight up, by talking shit and opening wounds.
While I have never played this part before, I have seen it
preformed many a time, many a family.  >:D

Crap. There's an anti-Travis faction? I'm glad I stopped following that horse-thieving thread. I only like drama when it's fake and manufactured for entertainment purposes.
