i guess my joking is getting in the way

some of us came to help you move, but you got finished early
since we ate anyways, I would like to make it up to you in a fun way .... we could try and do it again ... except this time we could do a morning's worth of work, such as yard maintenance.

I can only speak for me, Kat and Kira. We would be willing to come at 9am and do yard work until noon.
Kat would bring a salad from our garden and we could share lunch. You would not need to buy us beer. We could have lots of fun.

It is quite possible others would be willing to join us if you plan the event.

The Shire is a wonderful place, full of interesting people who help each other. Since your moving event was successful but didn't go quite according to plan, maybe we can make up for it.

If this is not an interesting idea, just don't plan the event. In order for Kira and me to pay back our meals you can come by our place sometime and we will supply you with lunch, or we can give you a few bucks. :)

We would also help.
One advantage to doing weeding sooner rather than later is that if they go to seed, you end up with a lot more to fight in subsequent years.

Really nice landscaping at your place, it would be fun to see what all you have there and we would enjoy trading plants with you. :)

Thank you for offering.  I'll have to see if that fits in my budget.  Moving is expensive, and things like the septic system (which needs cleaning) and the water heater (which needs replacing) take priority over the garden, as lovely as it is.   :flower:
well ... if you cut out the pile of mulch from the idea (which is not expensive) ... it becomes basically free
you did know we were offering to help for one morning for free .... right?

Actually, what you said is you'd do it in exchange for beer... you do know that feeding and watering a horde of people isn't free... right?   ;)

Can I buy the beer ? ;D

It would let me feel like I am contributing and give me the warm fuzzies ... unless I am being to pushy  :Bolt:

I'm in on this.  Seems like a lot of driving for 3 hrs work.  I can bring food.

You people are crazy!!  I mean that in a good way!   :D  OK, I'll schedule something before the 100 days of summer are over.

I need to get a grip on this whole living-in-the-country thing.  When I got home from work, I saw two deer standing on my lawn, and my first thought was "Oh, hey, the previous owners left two life-size fake deer on the lawn."   ::)

Tom Sawyer

Wait for the weird screaming animal sound in the night...  ;D
Porcupine nibbling on your house...
Bear in the yard...

Goodtimes :)

On my very first drive to work, there was an enormous, freshly killed porcupine in the middle of the road. (Sorry, you can't have it, it's already been cleaned up.)

Also, on my first night here, both the security sensors in the driveway went off, and the motion-detecting light on the house came on repeatedly.  I just assured myself it was cute woodland creatures and not Jack the Ripper.   :o

Just remembered: on Saturday after everyone left, I saw either a fisher or some sort of weasel.  It was like a squirrel, only dark.

Now Ezme is happily chasing a live mouse around the living room.  Yep... I'm not in Kansas anymore.   :black_kitty:

I love the idea of a gardening festivus! I'll supply some liver and belly ammunition... and it would be a pleasure just to be able to work and have fun at such a Beautiful place! Your house is really wonderful!

Please have it on a Sunday, though... :)

Pat K

Yes if you have it on a Sunday, a fat bastard from NY might show
up with Beer.

KBCraig

Beer is great for the composting pile. Both in its raw form, and... ...ummm... "processed".

I hope he found him in the house.  One of mine brings them in from outside, dead and alive.  He likes to let them go and catch them again until they are dead.  There were two bodies waiting for me this morning!
