Crew, who did not represent Warren in the criminal case, said he fled in the van because he was confronted by a man who never identified himself as an officer, was not in uniform and drove after him in an unmarked car. She said he had not been accused of any crime when the pursuit began.

She said Warren, who was hospitalized for a few days after the chase, was "totally unconscious" when he was beaten and did not know it happened until the video surfaced.

Not shown in that clip is the one who sprinted back to his cruiser to shut off the dashcam.

The driver was definitely wrong, but he definitely didn't deserve a beating while unconscious. The crazy thing is that he didn't even know he'd been beaten -- he assumed all the injuries were from the wreck, because he was knocked out.

[Fluff and Stuff]

The 6 people on the video should have been fired and charged with assualt.  That didn't happen.  Maybe a couple supervisors should have been fired.  That didn't happen.  Everyone that saw the video but didn't contact the DA should be punished by the department.  That didn't happen.  Everyone that tried to suppress the tape should have been fired and/or charged with suppressing evidence.  That didn't happen.

So out of the 12-20 folks that we know should have been punished, fired and/or jailed, only 5 have been fired.  That means the people of Birmingham know that there are at the very least 10 or so bad cops who have no trouble beating a black man for no reason and/or lying about it.  I wonder if the people of Birmingham will celebrate the next time a cop is killed there like many people recently did in Oakland, CA?  It just shouldn't be this way.  The cops shouldn't make them selves out to be the enemy of regular folks.

NEW HAMPSHIRE COPS, THIS IS WHY WE DISTRUST THOSE IN AUTHORITY SO MUCH.  HAD THERE BEEN NO VIDEO, NOTHING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THE COPS BEATING THE GUY.
