I just completed a philosophy of Abrahamic religions course; besides visiting a mosque, one of our key assignments was to conduct an in-depth interview with a Muslim.  We also received training in the basic tenets of Islamic faith.  I am aware of no such provision in Islam that concludes that "infidels" are "animals ripe for slaughter," nor was that the attitude of the Muslims at the mosque that I visited.

Could you be so kind as to tell me where you learned this bit of information, and who instructed you in it?  Perhaps you have been misinformed.

i agree we shouldn't meddle in their affairs.

its unfortunate that technology has advanced so much that we have to worry about the rest of the world. if we didn't confront communism around the globe during the cold war, its pretty likely that we would've had another world war.

these things are very very complicated, and being isolationist hasn't worked ever. millions and millions and millions of people died during WWII. do you think if the US and Britain would've did some iraq style war against hitler we would've had WWII? would millions of people have still been alive?

as a libertarian i do not believe in being aggressive or imperialist, and that congress should declare war... but war is not always wrong.

you immediately lose all credibility when you flat out say "war is wrong" because no matter how pacifist you are... there are people who are the exact opposite.

maybe you could die and hold the moral low ground (6 feet under)

So I guess the question is do you believe in invading a entire country, slaughtering thousands of innocents, and giving otherwise peaceful people a reason to hate the US for the purpose of completely destroying (with no mercy) a few that may have supported an attack on someone from the US? Sounds a little too counterproductive, wasteful, and inhumane for my tastes.

iraq has never been a peaceful country and either has afghanistan. i'm not sure where you come up with this... the islamic sects there have never been peaceful either.

most of the so called innocents were killed by their own countrymen. unless you of course count it as "our fault" if a suicide bomber blows himself up in an attempt to kill americans but just murders hundreds of his own people.

Ok, let me try this again:  You made a specific claim, to wit, that Islam was a violent religion that teaches its adherents to view non-Muslims as "animals ripe for slaughter."

There are, roughly, 1.2 billion Muslims in the world.  It is also a faith that has spanned nearly 1500 years.  So, if the standard of verification of your rather shocking claim is to be only anecdotal, then we must concede that, among those 1.2 billion people (as well as the billions who lived previously who claimed to be Muslims), there are probably a few pretty violent people who have claimed to be Muslims.  But such anecdotal evidence proves nothing about the faith, as there have also been very violent and hateful people among every ideology.

You apparently don't like my method of acquiring information.  Since your ways are so self-evidently superior, perhaps you could enlighten me as respects your claim by presenting your own standards of falsifiability of your overarching statement. After all, it is pointless to debate a claim which may not be falsified.  So enlighten me, good sir:  Tell me by what method I can critique your bigoted statement?  May I appeal to history? May I appeal to official theological positions? Philosophy?  Personal experience? Scripture?  In what way and by what method is your claim falsifiable?

Which claim do you want me to back up?  It is you that made a claim, namely, that Muslims are taught to view non-Muslims as "animals ripe for slaughter."  This is a specific, identifiable claim that I am asking you to back up by presenting the standard by which it may be falsified.

For my part, I've made no claims, only questioned your claim. I guess I have made some small claims (such as that I had to do an interview with a Muslim and that I visited a mosque, etc.)  If you'd like, I can email you my research paper, if you don't believe me, but somehow I doubt whether you are questioning my claim.  It seems more likely that you're just trying to save face.  You made a dumb-ass, stupid, completely boneheaded wrong, bigoted, semi-retarded claim, and you got called on it, so now you're stonewalling to save face.
