iraq has never been a peaceful country and either has afghanistan. i'm not sure where you come up with this... the islamic sects there have never been peaceful either.

most of the so called innocents were killed by their own countrymen. unless you of course count it as "our fault" if a suicide bomber blows himself up in an attempt to kill americans but just murders hundreds of his own people.

Really?  The initial invasion, and subsequent bombings during the 5 year occupation would seem to kill more than the suicide vesters.  The air force was quite busy, and rest assured, it is not possible to use the air force in Baghdad, a city of 4 million and not kill innocent people. 
Oh, and to my knowledge, there has never been a claim, by even bush and cheney, that there were suicide bombers in Iraq prior to the invasion by the US govt'.  Certainly the govt isn't responsible for that, anymore than the the night time theif in your house is responsible for you killing him.  The US gov't stages a massive air invasion of a country, and somehow thinks there will be no opposition.  When you have no other weapon, and any encounter with a massively superior military is virtually garanteed to result in your death, the suicide vest becomes a very effective 'human guided missile'.

If the govt is trying to kill the neighbor next door and they blow my mother up in the process, me thinks I would'nt see much of a difference.  If they blew up your children, mother, wife, me thinks you wouldn't either.  I know, it sounds so much worse when it happens in captivity, I would be enraged if they decapitated Sam in jail, but I don't think it would be fundamentally much difference if he was shot like Katherine Johnston of Atlanta Georgia in a botched non-drug raid. 

I suppose the difference will be more clear after a few more world wars, (egged on by all the prowar armchair generals and 'uber' patriots) including ones where the precious USA mainland actually gets bombed.  People generally lose their enthusiasm for wars of choice when the likelyhood of bombs falling on them increases.

Before you were called on it, the Muslim religion was the problem.  It was their religion that had turned them into terrorists ... it was "Muslims" who were in captivity and getting decapitated on the battlefield.
