Mike Barskey called porc-411 to say that Serene has been released and sounds like she's just dumped on the street with no money or anything.  If you're in OK, or can help her get back to NH, contact Mike.  PM me if you need his phone number.

Atlas

Is there any way I can send her some money?

djbridgeland

I did some research (not exactly sure where in OK she is):
Greyhound with 4 transfers OK City - Manchester Airport $188
Amtrak (OK city - Fort Worth, TX - Chicago - Boston Back Bay)  $257
Drive 1 way ~1800 miles @ 30 mpg @ $2.30 / gal. = ~$140 for gas + wear and tear
Southwest ticket OK city - Manchester $348 same day, if she can wait 1-2 weeks `$200 - $323

If I am not mistaken AnarchoJesse flew out west and is driving back to NH. Maybe someone with his phone number can call him and see if he could swing by and pick Serene up if he hasn't already passed Oklahoma.

Didn't Ron have a ChipIn going for his house? Could he repurpose that for getting his girlfriend's mother home?
I'd put $10 into that fund.

Kat Kanning

A chipin is easy to set up for anything, anyone with paypal can do it.

Sam A. Robrin

Does she have contact information yet?  I have friends in the area, and can probably put her in touch with them.

Barskey's latest 411 call said that she is staying at her daughter's house, might possibly have a free bus ticket.  Waiting to find out.

I started a chipin to help get Serene back to NH, if anyone wants to help.

Thanks everyone who helped!  We got plenty of donations to get her home!!

Mike Barskey

Indeed. Thanks, Kat for setting up the CHipIn, and thanks everyone who donated. Serene was moved to tears when she learned so many people donated so much to help her get home.

She'll be arriving in Boston at 9:00p on June 1; she'll spend the night at my place; I'll drive her to Keene the next day; She'll live at Richard's place for a while.

If someone can pick her up from Boston at 9:03p on 6/1/09, I'd appreciate it - I hate big cities. But I'll pick her up if no one else can.

Thanks again, all!

Good work Mike!  Driving to Boston isn't so bad at that time of night as long as the weather isn't bad and you don't have to park.  I'm be in Bristol so don't get any ideas, though :)

Crap! That's the comedy night at Ivy's! I was planning to go to that. Sigh.

If anyone who doesn't already have plans can pick Serene up and drop her at my place, I'd appreciate it. Still, though, if no one can, I'll skip comedy night (damn!) and pick her up.
