Approximately Shoe sized, is it also Approximately Shoe Materials?
Not that I can help, but I've tried each of those and found my hands aren't steady enough.

Was thinking wood. Could just as easily be ceramic, gold, aluminum, or what-have-you. Not related to shoes at all, just the first thing I thought of that was somewhat the same size.

I'm no expert, and have no real design ability, but if given a design I usually can do create an end product.  Time could be the limiting factor.
