Grafton Rec field Arena to have no tax subsidized restoration

This Sat 6-13, 9:00 AM, project to clear brush from fence and arena,
then paint 6-20 9:00 AM.
Grafton rec field horse arena restoration:
Have circulated and obtained promises from various factions within community to help.
Hope to have a project which does not require taxes to sustain, originally donated land to town of Grafton from MaryAnn Girabaldi. Arena for horse and dog shows has fallen to disrepair by town government. Individuals to rescue. Need donations white paint, primer, red/brown paint, brushes, tools, etc

This area has been maintained by volunteers of Grafton which became disgruntled when they were no longer allowed to drink bear on premises while working. All present at the Rec committee past Thurs agreed that they recalled beer really was motivating to the participants and there were no problems.

Grafton Town Festival 7-11
Also at the Rec committee meeting on Thurs. about the discussion of  upcoming Grafton Independence Festival 7-11, complaints were aired by a few showing up and by the head Rec Committee Pam Greeley about those open carry last year. Also endured a little verbal abuse about those who exercise right to carry. (Those of you may recall the stunning beauty of Ivy exercising the 2nd w side arm last year.) Defense of our second amendment by selectman Steve Darrow added to our defense Bill W (elder and husband of PL) and by me(PL) too.  WE MAINTAIN OUR RIGHT TO CARRY AT THE GRAFTON INDEPENDENCE FESTIVAL!!!, although THIS is guaranteed, it appears not to be up for challenge.
Also selectman George Curran making the existing rec committee (2 persons) account for incoming funds from last year's festival was progress, plus seeking new committee members. Funds appear lost but maybe this year will go to support the effort directly.
Anyway, Last years festival was a lot of fun for me. I hope that Grafton Free Stater's would also like to help with some fast development of activities, maybe a Libertarian information booth; help provide existing plans for activities, concessions. Look for sign up sheets at Sharon's General Store in Grafton, too.

Have circulated and obtained promises from several groups within community to help (several members of the rec committee, the Boy Scouts, at least one selectman, some Free Staters, etc.).

So far we have chain saws, two weed whackers, clippers, and a mower for tomorrow. We still need to round up some paint for next weekend. -Patty

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the brush clearing! Several Grafton residents came by as well as about 8 Free Staters. After next weekend's painting, the arena will look good as new.

To a horse, anyway.

Were the Free Staters ruining it for everyone else with their childish antics?

;D

Ridley was there doing his camera thing.  As you can see, (now that the brush is gone) the fence really needs some paint.

The mowing crew brought in some real professional help.

It was quite warm.  Here's Brian, PattyLee and Lloyd  taking a break in the shade.
