Wife got one of the cars done today.
No need to even go to the DMV.  Bring the title down to the town hall.  Done.  Gotta have 2 checks. 1 for the town and 1 for the State.  Then you have 10 days to get an inspection that then costs $40.

The cost of the inspection really blows. I know they've got the whole OBD-II compliance thing going on, but still...

Arkansas used to be $7, until they did away with it altogether. Texas is $11; high pollution areas requiring emission testing are probably more, but that's only a couple of metro areas.

The thing I find hard to swallow about NH's OBD testing is that it applies in Berlin or PIttsburg just the same as Manchester. And it's all because of pollution in Boston!

Are there a lot of regulations on car insurence companies, even though it's not mandatory for drivers?

Seems to me NH should be one of the freest markets in the production of car insurence.

When I moved back in '96 I called my insurance company and gave them the new NH information. My car insurance went down. My motorcyle insurance went up, way up. I recall almost three times what I was paying in MA. When I called the insurance company they said some thing about companies in NH not being regulated like they were in MA and that their motorcycle rates wer "not very competitive"

I canceled the insurance and called a couple other places they had much better rates. They were also lower than my original MA policy.

And Idea what rates would be -- relative to say, Sioux Falls, SD?

I sent you a PM Scott, Thanks for your help, I apreciate it.

To the rest of you.

Curently I pay less then $400 for two cars and two drivers, fo my 6-month premium.

Does that sound typical in NH to the others here? At least in some locations? Currently my liability is 50/100 thousand. I know some of you don't even carry insurence, and others probably carry lower liability coverages.

We're both around 26 years old.
