I really hate Illinois

What bothers me the most is most public officials and LOE's are automatically "comped" ... they do not receive these tickets .

Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones in July.  One mile per hour over the speed limit and the machine will get you a nice $375.00 ticket in the mail.  Beginning July 1st, the State of Illinois will begin using the speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways.  Anyone caught by these devices will be mailed a $375.00 ticket for the FIRST offense. The SECOND offense will cost $1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day suspension.  Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license, which allow insurance companies to raise Insurance rates.

This is the harshest penalty structure ever set for a governmental unit involving PHOTO speed enforcement.  The State already has two camera vans on line issuing tickets 24/7 in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH.  Photos of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken. Pass this on to everyone you know who might be affected!!!

Boy I'm glad I got the hell out of Illinois. Epically since I had a speeding in construction zone ticket like 5 years ago when there was 1 construction employee on the other side of the highway. I assume that the construction zone speed limits are still enforced with the photo radar, even when workers are not present? This sounds like a real money maker for a state that is up to it's nose in debt, and the state police can just sit back and rack the money in, without having to pull driver's over. I wonder what the state's defense would be if someone took this to court?

Ditto.  Nothing makes me love New Hampshire like a trip back to Illinois.

I agree!  The idea of moving back there makes me work harder to stay here.

Southeastern NH is similar to Chicago in the winter and more mild in the summer.  If you go further north or west in NH, then it gets colder in the winter.  I don't know about the snow but you could look that up real easy.

Winters seem pretty comparable.  Last winter there was about 4 - 5 snow storms with a couple of light snow falls in Manchester. One nice thing is no wet heavy snow, New England snow is the dry powdery stuff, at least away from the seacoast.  Summer seem cooler and less humid, but this summer seems to be the exception, It's been raining cats and dogs for about the past month. I have gone out side for a walk when its been around 90 and hardly broken a sweat. Try doing that in Illinois.

I was pleasantly surprised how much more agreeable the climate was in NH compared to the People's Republic of Illinois.  There is about 40-50% more snow, but its lighter, fluffier and easier to deal with than Illinois.  Even though we get more snow, the winters seem warmer here than in Illinois.  NH summers are 100% better, much less of the sweltering heat.

Also, in spite of the 3% income tax in Illinois (soon to be 4.5%), New Hampshire can afford ALL FOUR SEASONS.  Illinois has two: Blazing hot and too damn cold.
