I recently upgraded to a really cool HP media center laptop to replace my 2 yr old Dell e1505 laptop. I'm looking to give it to a good home for free. All it needs is a new battery (current one completely dead; only boots when plugged in), which run about $150, at least on the Dell site. The unit also has slight discoloration near the bottom corners of the LCD screen, but is very minor. Below are the stats:

CPU Intel Core2 Duo (2.0Ghzx2)
RAM: 2GB DDR2 (PC3200?)
HD: 60GB, SATA 5400RPM (Can be preloaded w/ Ubuntu 9.04 if you want)
USB: 4 USB 2.0 ports
Serial: 1 paralel, one serial external monitor port (No DVI, sorry)

If anyone wants it, please let me know. I'm in the Portsmouth area, and would be willing to deliver if you're nearby. Otherwise, please be open to picking it up.

Ill also be posting an older HP laptop that needs a new HD and/or battery (most likely the HD is dead). Just a heads up if anyone is interested.

I broke my laptop a couple months ago and would love another one.  It was a few years old so an old laptop would feel at home for me :)

Please give this to me.  I can meet you at a Taproom Tuesday or it would be even better for me if you went to a Dover Social and left it with Cynthia or Mike (or anyone really).  I guess I can meet you somewhere else to, let me know.  Thanks.

Nice offer! Batteries go for cheap on eBay.

My desktop has been really sluggish lately. I've had it for a number of years now. It's a Pavilion Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66 GHz 2.67 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. Does that mean it sux? I was thinking it might help to upgrade the memory.

dalebert

Well, crud-knockers. Looks like memory is already maxxed out according to the HP website.  :'(

Memory Finder

Here are your memory upgrade options
Manufacturer    HP - Compaq
Model    Pavilion a255c
Maximum Memory    1024MB
Standard Memory    256 or 512MB removable
Number of Slots    2 (2 banks of 1)

You could do a custom build for under $200 and surpass that.

My laptop was $600 and has 4GB of RAM, an AMD Dual Core and a 250 GB HD. I priced a similar one at Wal-mart last week for $500.

If you want to transport it to someone (like Fluff-n-Stuff), I will be glad to do that for you for a small fee. I charge US$10.00 per hour for custom deliveries/pickups plus expenses (like fuel and tolls), but I am regularly at certain locations for which I don't charge per hour. For example, if you can give me the laptop at La Festa Pizza in Dover on Wednesday nights, I can deliver it to Vendetta's in Keene the following Tuesday night, and there is no custom delivery charge (just a one-time fee of $10). If you want custom delivery, though, like having me pick it up from you Thursday and deliver it to Keene the same day or the next day, I'll charge only $10 per hour (plus expenses). Let me know.

i can vouch that Mike can safely deliver your package

Thanks, Russell. :) Word of mouth is the best reputation. But I offer insurance, too, (in the form of an indemnity) if you want it. :)

Hey -

That is an awesome offer to people. <3

I am completely without a computer, and have been borrowing from people, and would really like to be able to obtain one. (No competition, Mr. Stuff :) )

And I also endorse Mike Barskey, 'cause he's a pretty cool guy.

Thanks
