New mover Stone is hosting this at Hoyt Farm:

Sunday September 27th.  Bonfire during the day, at nightfall the bonfire dies off and is enclosed for a steam bath, nudie people running around, anarchy in the streets, that sort of thing.

Friday

How do you plan to enclose the bonfire and create a steam bath?

I went camping once with a group of people at a place where there was a large steamroom, and we went back and forth between the steamroom and a creek-full-of-snowmelt-in-the-mountains.  O.M.G.   :Dragon_Ball_emoticon_by_Wereg

Well, I don't plan to do anything.  This is Stone's gig.  But I was under the impression that the bonfire had to die out before the enclosing part happened.

Normally you heat rocks on a fire.  You move the rocks or put out the fire.  Slowly pour water on the rock or rocks/coals.  This lets off steam.  You have to wind some way to enclose the area.  Cloth, wood, stone, sand, dirt...

One can move the hot rocks into an enclosure.   :Flaming_Emoticon_by_The_Deser

From what I gather, Stone plans on measuring demand for this and scaling up as appropriate. For the first one, I think he's going to have a bonfire during the day with the rocks in/under/surrounding the fire. Once the fire is out, they'll move a makeshift "tent" into place and use the rocks to generate steam.

Long term, if there's demand, there has been quick talk about building a more permanent structure to do the same thing, but only if there's demand.

That's what he's planning on going for long term, I think. Once the snow starts falling, the steam bath will be a warm retreat from the snow... and a dive/run through the snow would then jumpstart the heart of the long-dead. It's the kinda stuff that makes you feel alive.

Kat suggested that he find a body of water. Clothing optional steambaths could then be advertised with polar plunges and advertised as "leeches in new and exciting places".  :D

So I've been asked to post:  the clothing-optional part of the party is off at the bonfire/steam area, not the house.  If you want to stay the night BYOT (bring your own tent).

I'm confused... this can be read two ways.

American:  One can run butt naked around the house but not at the steam area.
                BYOT (bring your own tent)

British:  There will be no butt naked running in the house. Butt naked running is to be done over in the steam area.
            BYOT (bring your own tea)

If you're trying to get everyone naked why wouldn't you just suggest strip poker? It's a lot less work.  :o

StoneY

the point is having a nice experience with nature similar to what they sell at resorts or whatever. . .

I'm up for penny poker (or maybe larger stakes), but playing poker and undressing aren't 2 things I really want to combine, especially in the cold.
