Ed Anthes of Nuclear Free Vermont will be the guest of WKNH's Empire Watch.  Anthes is a co-founder of the organization, and will discuss the many issues that surround Entergy's Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant in nearby Vernon, VT.  Anthes is also among the co-founders of the state-wide Safe Power Vermont coalition that includes the Safe and Green Campaign, CAN, VPIRG, Sierra Club, Toxics Action Center, Greenpeace, and Vermont Yankee Decommissioning Alliance.

In 2006, many of the coalition's members were at the center of a citizens' movement which convinced the Vermont legislature to assert its right to vote on whether or not the reactor can continue operation after its licence expires in 2012.  Vermont is the only state in the country where this has happened.

Anthes will be in the WKNH studios, so we welcome your calls on our studio line: (603) 358-8863.

Empire Watch can be heard every Thursday at 9:00am (EST) on WKNH (91.3), and can be live streamed at wknh.org.
