Honda Designs Car Friendly for Dogs

Wed Oct 5, 6:45 AM ET

WAKO, Japan - Honda Motor Co. has designed a car that's friendly for dogs ? part of the Japanese automaker's ongoing effort to create vehicles that are easy to use and comfortable to ride in.

The W.O.W. Concept, which stands for "wonderful openhearted wagon," shown to reporters recently, is an exhibition model with no plans for commercial sale that will be exhibited at the Tokyo auto show later this month.

A special crate for dogs in the glove apartment allows owners to interact with their pets while driving. A bigger crate pops up from the floor in the back seat area and can be folded back into the floor when it's not needed. For even bigger dogs, just buckle them up with a special seat belt to the floor.

The big danger for pets riding along in cars is that they get thrown out during a crash. About a fifth of Japanese households have a dog, and demand is growing for cars that cater to man's best friend, according to Honda.

The W.O.W comes with removable, washable, rollout flooring and has wide sliding doors to keep dogs happy.

"We created this vehicle from the point of view of a dog, but it turned out to be a gentler vehicle for the elderly, children and other family members," said Honda designer Katsuhito Nakamura.

I think it is wall-to-wall people .... more room outside the footprint of the festival.

Dogs are allowed at Rogers when we have our campout in June. 8)

Are those trolleys taxpayer subsidized public transportation?

Russell Kanning

I am sure.
The festival is also sponsored by businesses. We also pay $5,000 to organize the event.
So many things could be better here.

Keene is the only place that has ever had the record...... I've seen everyone since the beginning, and there have been a couple years when we have not broken our old record, but no one has ever surpassed us.

IMNSHO: The best time to go down there is about 5-6. It's not too crowded yet, but almost all the pumpkins are up.

A couple years ago, when I was running for City Council, I checked into buying a 4-5 ft pumpkin to carve a message into........ Would get attention, fur sure. I think there were a couple farms right in Keene that had pumpkins that size available for $50-60. Another issue is what to write, my suggestion is "Live Free or Die NHFREE.COM" with the URL at the bottom. Anthor is-e-u is how to transport it........
