I live in Illinois .. so I won't presume to know what things are like in other states . But I have a hard time accepting that the illegal immigrants ( a labor force we obviously need ) are a plus to our economy what they pay into the system is minuscule compared to what is removed. They also send a huge amount of their earnings out of the country thus directly taking those monies out of our economy ... something our economy can't tolerate for much longer


  I live directly next to a social security office and talk with the people who work there while they are outside getting a smoke on a daily basis . I can tell you first hand that at least 60% of those trying to claim benefits speak no English and are very new to the country , and they get paid ... while my neighbor who has paid into SSI for over 35 years has to fight for a disability check . 

I have a relative that is an administrator at a hospital , and she freely admits 25% + of their emergency room patience  are using false SSN's ... and their unpaid bills are starting to bankrupt the hospital ( sadly a common situation here , our hospitals are in dire straights ) ... again not sure how it is in other states but in Illinois emergency rooms can not refuse treatment . 

This particular issue is one that baffles me , with in the forums it seems  to me most want immigration law ignored or abolished , and at the same time most think think we should pay no taxes ... so what does the local government do when people who sneak into this country  start to bankrupt the services provided to the local community? Looks like a case of I want to have my cake and eat it to .... that the Government is bad and these are human beings who deserve to be treated the same as anyone who has paid into these programs their whole lives. 

I hate to wear out my welcome before I arrive , ans fear that I will get a good spanking  for posting this .... but does any one think that if we had no borders that English would be spoken anywhere ? That the standard of living we have would not plummet to what it is in the countries these people are fleeing from ? Has any American citizen  the right to want people to assimilate to our culture.. 3 out of 7 shops with in walking distance of my home have no one who speaks English to answer a question about something on a shelf / service provided. Is this what we want  ?

Please understand and I am aware that I am not native to this part of the world , ... that my grandparents took a boat here. I am just asking ... do the border states have any right to know if the people coming their way have convictions for pedophilia , or murdering innocent people ? I would be  in the consensus as far as a group opinion of sheriff Joe if this forum had a consensus about the guy  ... but do the people in his voting district have a right to re elect him over and over ?

ok let me back up and see if I can state this a different way...

We are a nation of laws.  Some of those laws define who can come here and who can't and what process those coming here must follow.

If someone breaks the rules we've established for coming here and they take those benefits when they shouldn't be that is no different then someone breaking into your house and eating your food.

The nazi's used laws to put Jews in ovens, I guess that makes it ok, because they were following the law.  They defined who was allowed to live and who can't and what process those who knew where a Jew was must follow.

The system is broken, declaring that people are illegal won't fix it.

I know people like to have a scapegoat, but the problem is the "law," not the people.

What they "remove" is miniscule compared to what we spend on keeping them out, pursuing them, locking them up, and deporting them.

The problem here is two fold, the reason anyone has a problem with illegals in the first place is because they are able to claim benefits paid for by the rest of us.  And I highly doubt they are a net benefit to government because states that have large populations of illegals are going belly up paying out more in benefits then they collect.

If our government was not taking money hand over fist from those who work and hand it out to those who don't do you think that A) people would be flocking to this country in massive numbers?  and B) that those who work and live here would care who came here in the first place?

That's the real problem here.  And since we do have a government handing out our money like it was candy for Halloween it's only right that we set some rules in place for who gets the money.

there are lots of 'we's and 'us''s that just simply don't apply to me.  I welcome all my brown skinned friends from every brown person country.  In fact, I don't really care what color you are, you're more than welcome here.

I used to get all uppity about the "rules" and the lawwwwr and used to proclaim on high that they could be allowed in (I'd give them MY permission) if they 1) followed the rules and 2) paid taxes.  I was worried about my parents' Social Security going dry at the hands of lots of eee leee gulls!

now I've come to the understanding that
1)  No one needs my permission, your permission, or anyone's permission to move into a piece of land that is unowned or owned by all.   
2)  The Illegal Immigration zealots are usually racist.  I've been to a stupid jingoist meeting, 98% of them had some underlying hatred of the brown skinned folk. 
3)  Social Security is a sham operation and people that have put money into it deserve nothing but to lose their money based on the stupidity of giving into yet another bullshit social experiment.
4)  If you're worried about losing money to evil ee lee gulls, then stop paying the assholes that hand out the money.

The shear fact that you identify it as an issue "brown skinned folk" is a bit racist in and of itself.  I never once said anything about illegals from any one location.  For instance I'm aware of a very large population of Illegals from Ireland living in the Boston area so it has nothing to do with "brown" people.

Yeah, that worked out so well for the Browns.   

Those who avoid paying (income) taxes either end up in jail like the Browns or end up living unground lives living in lower standards of living and/or having to work odd under the table jobs.  You give up any chance of a "normal" life.  I'm sorry but that lifestyle isn't for me.

And while you work twice as hard to stay off the radar, you're really fooling yourself because you are still being raped and paying taxes. 
-If you rent, the property taxes are part of your rent.
-If you own and refuse to pay property taxes they'll take your home.
-If you drive a car you pay gas taxes and very likely tolls depending where you drive.
-If you purchase "sin" items like booze or cigarettes you're paying taxes.
-If eat out you pay meal taxes.
-If you register a car you pay taxes

Even businesses that would hire you, pay taxes on your behalf long before you ever see your pay check.

So even if you want to fool yourself into thinking your free... fact is your not.  You pay into the system the same as I.  And since I acknowledge my money is being stolen from me I do fight back about where it goes and at the very least attempt to have less taken from me.

I see it a little differently.  As bad as our government is, I still see it as one of if not the best example of government there is.

Its like a guy dating a beautiful woman but comparing her to airbrushed models in magazines.  He dumps her thinking there are these perfect women based on the pictures he sees but they don't really exist.  That's how I see the perfect society, it's the airbrushed picture in the magazine.  It doesn't really exist other then in theory and every time people have tried to create it they've failed.

If you can show me examples in history of perfect societies I'd be the first to sign up and try to achieve it here.  The problem is they don't exist and we only have examples of near perfect societies that eventually devolve just as our country has.
