If you have used wine or beer bottles that are some color besides clear or brown, I want them!  :)  Here's an idea of what we're trying to do with them.

Very pretty. The cord wood wall would have a thickness to it. Are they using whole bottles for a similar thickness?

Maybe taking two of the same bottle, cut the tops off, and lay them end to end, cut ends together.  Maybe placing the colored bottles in clear glass jars to have uniform diameter across the wall.  There's probably other options too.

I'm looking at some that I have been saving for Kira. I'll get them over to ya.

I was holding an empty (purple) Poison bottle over the wastebasket and then remembered this thread. I'll give it to you the next time I see you. Actually, I'll trade you for my margarita pitcher.  :)

We have some green wine bottles we can give you.  :)

Kat Kanning

Cool :)  Are you guys coming up Nov. 5th?

Tom Sawyer

Yes, appears to be the answer... I just follow orders  ;D

Oooh, very cool :)

the wall is 16 inches thick, so they will have to be that or  a few more to work .... i don't think we have any that are already big enough

Have you ever tried the old way of cutting the top off a bottle?

Tie a piece of twine tightly around the bottle, soak the twine in kerosene (or gasoline, depending on how adventurous you're feeling) wipe any excess off the glass, then light the twine.

Give it time to get hot, then dunk the bottle into water. You should get a clean break along the hot spot where the twine was burning.

Back in the '70s, I received a bottle cutting kit for Christmas. It worked like this, except it pivoted around the mouth of the bottle, instead of rotating the bottle in a jig:
