Hi everybody!

Hello.  How are you?  I hope you aren't being traumatized by the snow today.

Hi Kate, no snow here for me to be traumatized about.
Also no one is cutting through my yard. :P

When you're in a meeting with a large group of people and someone has the floor, raise your hand to be recognized if you want to speak - don't just start talking.  I don't care if you can't stand the idea of "asking permission" to speak, because I know there's a good chance that abandoning this social custom just gives you a shouting match.
i have definitely been to meetings here in nh where many people talk while a speaker is talking and don't take turns speaking to the whole group .... it doesn't work well.

are you guys going to start other meetings where it is run more to your liking, or does that already happen at some other event?

Alec and I were at the Merrimack Valley Porcupine Meeting today.  Phil Greazzo was the speaker while we were eating lunch.  Alec was referring to the question and answer segment after Phil's presentation.  Phil was calling on people who had raised their hands in the order they had raised their hands.  Then some people couldn't wait their turn and started interrupting people and yelling to talk over people.  Which meant no could be heard due to the two people talking at once.
Kate
does seem like a simple situation .... why not just raise a hand?

Russell's idea seems more effective.  I wonder what would be the best way to design one.
hammocks by day turn into drunknets by night :)
i like the idea of guys having to sleep it off hanging from a tree showing where exactly they trespassed
you can surround your place with the nh state sign

He wants more cops.  What more do you need to know about him?
guys like that speaking is one of the reasons we don't go to the mvp meetings anymore
i figured ... instead of shouting, why not just withdraw my support for a republican meeting

Hey - he was invited to speak.....so he did. It wasn't about policy at all - it was more about the same things Kate started this thread about.

I am also perplexed why people can't just take turns speaking instead of just yelling over the others.

Other than 'I get it', I don't see how any other response to Russell's post could make sense. I was right.
